Implement various actuarial analyses, programs and procedures to support the preparation of reports and assist in the formulation of recommendations regarding Personal and Commercial products
Communicate findings to actuaries, management, and others
Provide support to actuaries and others by performing analysis within a designated business segment/s to assist business decision making, financial planning, and strategy development
Assist in the preparation of actuarial research and complex reports and studies
Present findings and exhibits to peers and others
Retrieve, understand and manipulate data as it relates to assigned and related projects
Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities
Provide technical assistance and information to other departments
Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff
Provide recommendations for and assist in the creation and maintenance of actuarial tools
Develop and maintain predictive models used for purposes such as pricing, risk assessment, and other key business considerations
Travel required up to 10%
The position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related field.
Also requires: Experience with actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims and sales;
Experience building models, including predictive models, of moderate complexity for the purposes of forecasting ultimate value of unpaid claims;
Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams;
Experience with advanced functions in Excel, statistical software packages including SAS;
Travel required up to 10%.
