Senior Accounting Manager
$1,000 hiring bonus available to external candidates
People Incorporated is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join our Finance Department. This is a full-time remote position, after initial onboarding and training period. This position is responsible for managing the general accounting functions and accounting staff with the intent of maintaining the integrity of the financial accounting system in a non-profit setting. Key areas of responsibility include oversight and ensuring that reporting is designed to protect assets, meet reporting requirements, and effectively plan for short and long-term financial goals of the organization.
Hours: Monday-Friday business hours | Hybrid position
Hiring Range: $95,000 - $103,000 annual salary
Main Job Duties:
Prepare or direct the preparation of financial statements, general ledger accounts, billing for various program grants/contracts, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, and reports required by regulatory agencies
Provide technical training to program staff as it relates to accounting procedures, as necessary
Monitor financial activities and details such as revenue streams, cash flow and reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
Coordinate external audits with independent accounting firm and funding agencies
Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, and accounts payable
Regular in-person and onsite presence is required.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting major.
Minimum of five years' experience in the areas of financial statement preparation, budgeting, purchasing, accounts payable.
Minimum of two years of prior supervisory experience.
Expertise in computerized automated financial management systems including prior experience with implementation, training, report generation and system upgrades.
Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with demonstration of developing and establishing financial policies and procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and/or CPA designation preferred.
Preference given to candidates with prior accounting experience within a not-for-profit environment.
