Manages the general accounting functions and accounting staff, including managers and supervisors. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures. Responsible for the accurate and timely general ledger and period end closings. Prepares or supervises the preparation of balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, data forecasts, cash flow data and other reports. Reconciles assets and liabilities. May conduct asset valuations and participate in budget planning process.
Position Responsibilities may include:
- Manages, through subsequent managers, the accounting team to develop, analyze, and interpret accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
- Supervises the team to furnish internal and external reports; revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient
- Guides team on maintaining system of accounts and keeping books and records on all company transactions and assets.
- Presents financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Provides guidance and review so the system of internal controls and the system of accounting controls are in place and functioning properly.
- Manages the team so that a cash management process is in place and functioning in order to monitor and control cash requirements.
- Mentors to facilitate the proper consolidation of multiple-company financial statements.
- Coordinates the annual audit of the financial records for Corporate Accounting with independent auditors.
- Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

- Develops departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities in fast-changing businesses and/or regulatory environments
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives where independent thought and judgment is required for determining the appropriate course of action
- Works on complex issues and projects
- Provides guidance and training to managers, supervisors, and high-level professionals
- Has accountability for multiple departments or areas
- Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels inside and outside the company
- Strong leadership skills; proven supervisory experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with deadlines
- Expert Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data

- Experience with a variety of accounting concepts, practices & procedures.

Experience:
- 15+ years' experience in multiple areas of accounting
- 8+ years' in a management role
Education/Certification:
- BA/BS in Accounting plus Certified Public Accountant, or MBA, or equivalent years of experience directly in accounting may be considered
