Senior Accounting Data Analyst

Sunnova is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Accounting Data Analyst to join our team in Houston. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating advanced accounting dashboards, developing smart queries to transform and combine multiple reports, and building macros in Excel. The candidate should have a strong background in accounting and coding, with proficiency in Python, Salesforce, FinancialForce, Rootstock, Infor systems, and VENA.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Strategic Dashboard Creation:

• Design and develop interactive, strategic accounting dashboards to provide real-time insights and data visualization.

• Ensure dashboards meet the needs of various stakeholders, including senior management and the accounting team.

2.Data Querying and Transformation:

• Create and manage complex queries to extract, transform, and combine data from multiple sources.

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data by developing and implementing data validation processes.

3.Macro and Automation Development:

• Develop, test, and maintain Excel macros to automate repetitive tasks and enhance data analysis efficiency.

• Utilize Python for advanced data manipulation and automation tasks.

4.System Integration and Optimization:

• Leverage experience with Salesforce, FinancialForce, Rootstock, Infor systems, and VENA to integrate and streamline accounting processes.

• Collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize system usage and resolve technical issues related to accounting data.

5.Reporting and Advanced Analysis:

• Prepare and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making processes.

• Conduct sophisticated data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.

6.Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the accounting team to understand data needs and provide actionable insights.

• Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.

7.Strategic Thinking and Execution:

• Strategically think through development opportunities and execute them independently.

• Understand both accounting principles and coding techniques to develop effective solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting data analysis or a similar role.

• Proficiency in creating and managing accounting dashboards.

• Strong skills in querying and transforming data, with experience in SQL or other query languages.

• Advanced Excel skills, including macro development.

• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation.

• Experience with Salesforce.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or relevant certification.

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

• Knowledge of financial reporting standards and practices.

• Understanding of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) and public company requirements.

• Experience with FinancialForce, Rootstock, Infor systems, and VENA.
