Purpose
Senior Accounting Analyst partners with Accounting Managers and their offshore teams to set department standards through superior customer service, while ensuring best practices are followed for timely and accurate accounting and analytics. Provides support to team members through training, troubleshooting, and assistance with system enhancements through analytics reporting including supplier payments when necessary. This role will be a key player in providing benchmarks on accounts payable daily payments, developing and monitoring KPI's, reporting metrics, forecasting accounting spend and payments, implementing process improvements, and identifying automation opportunities within the full accounting cycle. This team player will interface with all levels of the company in addressing business inquiries, concerns, and issues. They will conduct training, testing, and continuously improve the supplier and customer experience while acting as Subject Matter Expert.
Responsibilities
Perform daily review of accounting transactions and provide weekly forecasting based on scheduled events
Develop and track relevant KPI's and metrics to improve our business performance
Research filed accounting inquires and resolve them in accordance with Company service levels
Interact and partner with business leaders regarding accounting inquiries and drive root cause correction initiatives
Analyze accounting statements, financial measures, reconcile accounts, and bring visibility to recurring issues
Lead contact for escalations, issues and performs root cause analysis to present cross functional solutions to Accounting and Finance leadership for corrective actions
Consolidate business needs from order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, or any other business team while bring recommendations to accounting leadership
Provide recommendations on accounting systems and reporting but not limited to related improvements for invoicing, including OCR solution for invoice processing and host-2-host (H2H) payment integration with bank partners
Support department month-end & year-end close responsibilities including balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, IRS 1099 compliance and other KPI reporting
Validate data from other internal sources and ensure an appropriate course of resolution is being pursued
Host periodic calls, provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to leverage insights to financial spend and payment trends
Evaluate, recommend, maintain, and monitor applicable internal controls to standardize business processes and procedures
Mentor and train others on database reporting, systems optimization, business process flows, and procedure documents
Complete ad hoc audit requests while working closely with internal and external auditors
About You
Bachelor's degree required in Accounting or Finance, or a related discipline required with an MBA preferred
1-3 years General Analytics (Accounting, Accounts Payable, GL, Procure-to-Pay, or any other Finance related area) or relevant work experience, Oracle Cloud ERP experience is a plus
Broad experience with cross functional teamwork and interaction with all levels of an organization
Ability to analyze information, think through difficult problems, and make critical decisions based on limited operational information
Ability to solve problems and re-engineer processes using analytical frameworks to streamline the process
Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities, organizing work, meetings, while exceeding business needs, and attending to details
Must be a self-starter who can work well within various situations (from well-defined to unstructured) and proactively identify business improvement areas
Demonstrates functional knowledge/expertise in critical problem solving and resolution in the retail industry preferred
Demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
High skillset in data retrieval, manipulation, calculation, and analysis using ERP, mainframe systems and other analytical software tools; including SQL writing within Excel and Power BI.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel up to ~10% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
