Responsibilities

Principal is looking for a talented leader interested in driving change to join our Principal Global Investors (PGI) business segment as a Senior Accounting Analyst on our Investment Accounting Team. In this fast-paced and challenging leadership role, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of investments and systems.

The Investment Accounting team is responsible for the daily and monthly accounting for our consolidated (General Account) derivatives, fixed income, and alternative investments. In this role, you will lead a team of finance and accounting professionals responsible for a variety of functions including accounting for alternative investments, monthly valuation process, daily cash application, and reconciliations. The right candidate will be energized by challenging the status quo, collaborating closely with other leaders, and developing, encouraging, and empowering their team to have a growth mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required.

  • 8+ years of related experience required.

  • 3+ years of formal leadership experience required.

  • CPA or other applicable certifications is a plus.

  • Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to drive change, challenge the status quo, and identify opportunities for process improvements.

  • Proficient working knowledge of Excel and an aptitude to learn new technologies required.

  • A good understanding of Statutory and GAAP investment accounting principles is preferred.

  • Knowledge of PAM for Investments is a plus.

Purpose: The Senior IT Financial Systems Analyst acts as a primary liaison for Athene Finance teams to ensure that corporate projects and business unit enhancements are implemented appropriately with existing finance systems and reporting requirements. Accountabilities: * Assists in the definition, analysis, testing and documentation for upgrades, replacements, or enhancements to Athene financial systems applications, including but not limited to Oracle EBS, Concur, Cadency, ReconNet, Cor360 and other various applications. * Identifies opportunities to automate business processes and interfaces with internal and external business partners. * Manages the impact of upstream release schedules relating to changes impacting Finance, as well as communicating conflicts and future release dates of other various Source Systems. * Participates effectively in development of test plans to reduce financial risk within the General Ledger, including the appropriate "go/no go decision" recommendation. * Performs necessary administrative functions, including process map creation, metrics, communications, project reporting and updates. * Works directly with Finance teams, process teams, business leaders, and IT project teams to ensure technology solutions and processes support Athene business objectives. * Works on the behalf of Finance to safeguard the General Ledger and other Finance Systems and mitigate risk associated with upstream Source System, infrastructure, and/or configuration changes. * Works with team leads and team members to identify and implement new solutions that leverage and support the Finance Systems architecture. This will normally be done through participation in Source System upgrades, on-boarding of new Source Systems, and internal requests from Finance due to ongoing changes in reporting requirements. * Acts as a consultant on business process improvements and technology enhancements. * Analyzes moderate to complex problems, processes, and systems by working with various business unit members to understand, document and interpret that analysis into a comprehensive business solution. Qualifications and Experience: * 5+ years of progressively responsible business systems/processes analysis experience. * Working knowledge in Finance Systems. * Experience gathering requirements, probing into problems, facilitating meetings, documenting specifications and coordinating or leading projects. * Experience with GAAP and STAT accounting basis. * Experience with Windows 10, MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Business Objects, SmartView. * Life insurance industry knowledge preferred. * Prior experience as a Business Analyst or Jr Project Manager. * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent work experience.
