POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant will be a valuable member of the Finance and Accounting team, assisting in the day to day accounting, in collaboration with other members of the finance team, including the preparation of general ledger entries, account reconciliations, financial statement analysis and ad hoc projects. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for Cash, Payroll and Equity accounting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and coordinate the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close related to cash, payroll and equity functions

  • Manage monthly journal entries for cash, payroll and equity related accounts

  • Perform and maintain related balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Prepare variance analysis for trended financial results and other comparative analysis as required

  • Prepare and process U.S. Payroll including working with third party service provider on Payroll administration

  • Be the primary point of contact to our outsourced stock administration provider responsible for ensuring the accuracy of equity transactions including, but not limited to, reviewing grant inputs, tax withholding information, cancellations, ESPP purchases and RSU releases.

  • Prepare support for audit requests, and respond to inquiries from external auditors

  • Participate and support the maintenance of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's federal and state tax returns

  • Assist in developing operational procedures and establishing process efficiencies

  • Support other finance / ad hoc projects as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/related field, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Advanced Excel skills required

  • Experience working at a pharmaceutical and/or public company preferred

  • Great Plains Equity Edge experience preferred

  • Strong verbal and written skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to identify organizational opportunities and to effectively implement new processes and internal controls preferred

  • Experience in payroll and equity accounting is preferred

ABOUT THE POSITION: This position supports key company-wide accounting activities with a focus on R&D and Canadian services. This position supports the Accounting Manager, the Finance and Accounting department, business agreement managers, and other related functions within the company. This position partners with all functions in a manner which ensures regulatory compliance, establishes best practices, standardizes and optimizes process efficiency, and minimizes business risks. This position can also act as a backup for the Accounts Payable and Procurement functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES: * Verify and process vendor invoices in a compliant fashion, including enforcement of company policies, the correct application of coding, and the integration of invoice files and data between multiple systems. * Coordinate between Accounting, Procurement, and business agreement managers to resolve invoicing matters. * Maintain vendor invoice electronic and physical files and registers, ensuring consistency between multiple systems. * Maintain and reconcile the company's fixed asset register and processes. * Compile and issue internal intercompany processes related to intercompany service level agreements and loans. * Manage the company's North American corporate card program, processing expenses to ensure compliance and accuracy. * Validate contracts, Purchase Orders (PO), goods & services receive with the vendors' invoices * Responsible for Order To Cash (OTC), AR/Collection, AR aging reporting. * Responsible for Gross To Net (GTN) revenue recognition in accordance to ASC606 * Maintain and reconcile inventory balances. * Coordinate intercompany transactions with trading partners. * Train new and existing employees on user-facing systems and procedures. * Act as backup for Accounts Payable (AP) and Procurement functions. * Support various month-end close and reconciliation activities.QUALIFICATIONS: * * * Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field of study; or equivalent Accounts Payable/Contracts/Procurement experience. * Minimum of 8 years accounting experience.
