Responsibilities:

  • Help ensure the accuracy and timely closing of the general ledger and assist in the financial reporting efforts of the accounting team

  • Coordinate the month and year end reporting to division, as well as interim and year-end audits

  • Help ensure all revenue, cost of sales and G&A related activity is accurately reported and communicated to management

  • Help ensure financial accounts are reconciled; issues investigated and resolved timely enabling accurate financial reporting

  • Proactively conduct independent analysis to identify trend changes or opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and liabilities

  • Develop strong relationships with the business through solid business acumen; respectfully challenge the business and offers solutions to resolve issues in an effective, cost efficient manner

  • Actively participate in the month end reporting and review of financial reports

  • Proactively develop Ad Hoc analysis and reporting sets in support of the monthly closing and review process

  • Proactivity and independently identify any risk or opportunities to the balance sheet and income statements along with recommendations to resolve or reduce risk exposure

  • A minimum of three years of previous accounting and/or audit experience in a public or private accounting firm or similar environment

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; CPA or working towards license preferred

  • Experience with revenue recognition transactions with multi-national company

  • Strong reporting and data querying capabilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; experience with SAP and Salesforce is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, record and report all inventory, cost of sales, and general & administrative related transactions in a timely, complete and accurate manner

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated effective ability to respectively challenge business unit partners to help ensure accuracy of accounting while assisting the business meet its objectives

  • Detail oriented approach to work, confidentiality, good problem solving skills along with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Position Overview Purpose of this position is to provide department level accounting support to ensure department goals and objectives are achieved, in alignment with CryoLife's mission and core values. To assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in performing all of the detailed tasks necessary to maintain the Company's accounting systems by complying with department and company-wide accounting procedures and with generally accepted accounting procedures during the monthly closing process including reviewing and preparing journal entries, reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, reviewing and preparing descriptive or supporting schedules, monitoring budget to actual results, and working on the more challenging special projects as necessary. Responsibilities * Perform review procedures on the quarterly and annual SEC filings, the review of XBRL tags, and assist the Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst, and Assistant Controller in coordinating and overseeing the monthly and quarterly closing process. * Perform a review of budget to actual differences on a monthly basis to determine if reclasses, accruals, prepayments, or capitalizations of costs are necessary and provide training and guidance to staff accountants. * Assist the Cost Accountants in preparation of DPC and inventory models, account reconciliations of inventory accounts, and investigation into variances and other tasks and projects as needed. * Involvement in the annual budgeting process and creation of periodic budget revisions. * Record the more complex journal entries and review journal entries prepared by the staff accountants. * Prepare the more complex account reconciliations and review reconciliations prepared by the staff accountants. * Prepare the more complex monthly financial statements including the cash flow statement and/or financial summary. * Prepare quarterly analyses explaining the change in certain key income statement and balance sheet accounts. * Prepare quarterly and annual tax information for the external tax accountants for provision support, tax return preparation, and tax notice resolution. * Supervise annual and ad-hoc projects including: the annual R&D tax credit project, the annual 401(k) audit and related Form 5500, and the preparation of the annual proxy statement. * Assist and/or lead in the completion of annual statutory audits in certain international geographies. * Assist in preparing accounting research memos and the more complex analyses. * Assist in review of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation. * Track spending of governmental grants and prepare appropriate filings as needed. Qualifications * Bachelors of Business Administration – Accounting degree and knowledge of technical accounting issues required (Finance major would only be accepted if they have obtained a MAcc or CPA license) * Candidates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are preferred * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, graphs, & sumif formulas) and experience with Word required * Two years public accounting experience or 3+ years industry experience required, * CPA certification, Master's Degree, or MAcc preferred * Familiarity with integrated computerized accounting programs and Microsoft Word preferred Company Info Who We Are.
