Responsibilities:
* Responsible for on-boarding of newly acquired entities within our Governance, Risk and Compliance division (mainly Corporate Legal Services) as well as other business units supported by the North American Accounting Center in accordance with the project plans * Ensure the accuracy of accounting information being reported, system integration, timely closing of the general ledger as well as assisting in establishing of the strong internal controls structure in accordance with the Wolters Kluwer ("WK") Internal Controls framework * Ensure that all account reconciliations of the newly acquired entities are up-to-date and prepared in accordance with the IFRS/WK Accounting manual and in the format adopted within WK and all issues are investigated and resolved timely enabling accurate financial reporting * Assist the Accounting team in coordinating the month and year end reporting as well as interim and year end audits * Demonstrated ability to run projects that involve multiple parties and meet assigned deadlines and deliver on goals and objectives * Demonstrated proficiency in IFRS Accounting standards * Demonstrated ability to:*
  • analyze financial statements of newly acquired entities to identify adjustments to bring them in line with IFRS standards* propose opening balance sheet adjustments for newly acquired entities* assist in recording and reporting of cost of sales, and General & Administrative transactions in a timely, complete and accurate manner* assist in analysis and reporting of accounts receivable and revenue related transactions in a timely, complete and accurate manner * Ensure timely integration of the acquired entities into their respective business units, while assisting with Accounting integration into the North American Accounting Center * Assist with accurate reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts and follow up on reconciling items to ensure they are being addressed in a timely fashion * Actively participate in the month end reporting and review and analysis of financial reports; initiate actions resulting from such reviews * Proactively conduct independent analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations * Develop strong relationships with the business through solid business acumen; respectfully challenge the business partners and offer solutions to resolve issues in an effective, cost efficient manner * Proactively develop tools in support of the monthly closing and review process * Assist in the formulation and preparation of monthly and annual reporting requirements * Assist in the coordination on internal and external audits and work with Corporate Accounting on recording opening BS adjustments for newly acquired entities * Participate/coordinate accounting or cross-business unit finance projects to identify and implement process improvements and process streamlining * Assist in ensuring the internal control documentation is in place and is being followed * Take on additional duties and projects, as assigned, and deliver the results on time while working independently with minimum supervision* A minimum of five years of previous accounting and/or audit experience in a public or private accounting firm or similar environment * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; CPA or working towards license preferred * Experience with M&A activity (including acquisitions and divestitures) strongly preferred * Previous project management experience required * Experience with revenue recognition transactions with multi-national company * Strong reporting and data querying capabilities * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; experience with SAP, JD Edwards is preferred * Demonstrated ability to analyze, record and report all inventory, cost of sales, and general & administrative related transactions in a timely, complete and accurate manner * Strong analytical skills with demonstrated effective ability to respectively challenge business unit partners to help ensure accuracy of accounting while assisting the business meet its objectives * Detail oriented approach to work, confidentiality, good problem solving skills along with the ability to work independently and in a team environment * Ability to travel up to 30%* Wolters Kluwer N.V.
