ABOUT THE ROLE

In this position you will play a critical role in the timely and accurate preparation of accounting records, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsible for completing routine and established accounting business processes including posting and preparing journal entries to the general ledger, and preparation of reconciliations. Assisting senior staff in analysis and interpretation of financial data, records, and reports.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Corporate Accounting

  • Support the monthly accounting close process. Prepare journal entries and post journal entries into the General Ledger, using various financial data and records

  • Support the company's monthly revenue recognition and billing process

  • Generation of monthly and quarterly bills for clients, both system generated and Excel based

  • Ensures an accurate monthly revenue estimate and performs the quarterly true-up

  • Responsible for cash accounting across all legal entities, including monthly reconciliations

  • Responsible for investment accounting across all legal entities, including monthly reconciliations of investment accounts

  • Responsible for monthly income statement analytics for management

  • Various other balance sheet reconciliations as necessary

  • Support the activities of the accounts payable department to ensure the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and employee expense report reimbursements. Ensure proper coding of expenses for classification

  • Supervise the activities of the accounts receivable team to ensure the accurate and timely management of client components, including billings and cash receipts

  • Preparation of PBC (provided by client) documents to auditors. Assist in the support of third party internal audit and external audit relationships

  • Respond to the Controller and Assistant Controller regarding requested financial information and ad hoc analysis

  • Participate in a variety of special projects and/or cross-functional teams

  • Preparation of compensation calculations using financial data

  • Maintain systems and procedures to comply with internal control requirements to ensure the integrity of the accounting systems, processes, and data

Internal Controls

  • Follow company's internal controls (SOX controls) by proper preparation of checklists and procedures

  • Other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA eligible is preferred

Minimum Specific Experience Required:

  • 3 - 5 + years of experience; A mixture of 1-2 in public accounting and 1-3 in corporate is preferred

WHO YOU ARE

  • Experience posting and reviewing a general ledger (preferred Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains)

  • Strong experience with reporting and variance analysis. (flux analysis)

  • Strong analytical skills in reviewing trend data and exception recognition

  • Strong verbal and written communication skill

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task. Does not sacrifice quality for speed

  • Foundational knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles and internal control environments
