Job Summary:
USESI has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to grow your career. IN the Senior Accountant role, you will report to the Director of Accounting and will collaborate with the accounting team and management across the business to drive process improvements and efficiency. This dynamic position provides an opportunity for a clear pathway to greater operational and leadership responsibilities and career advancement. This role is hybrid with 3 to 4 days remote each week and offers great work life balance.
Responsibilities:
Support month-end close and financial reporting responsibilities on the corporate consolidated accounting team including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet recs, flux analysis, and other duties as assigned
Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. Provide analytical support for year-end GAAP audits, as well as preparing audit workpaper support
Oversee the companywide inventory accounting, including average cost book to perpetual adjustments, reserves, LIFO GAAP adjustments, direct sales timing variance accruals, intercompany ops charges for inventory services, etc. As part of the inventory accounting role, work with various individuals within the organization from distribution center teams, regional leadership, to our CFO as we prepare and record adjustments and estimates.
Oversee the general accounting side of tax accounting, including assist external tax specialists by providing schedules and analysis of data for filing tax returns, along with other sales, unclaimed property, use tax, and state and city tax filing requirements, and support for tax audits
Assist Director of Accounting with team management, including review of more junior team member's work, and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
Continuously work to improve processes within areas of responsibility
Preferred Education and Experience:
BA/BS degree in accounting
4+ years of public or private accounting experience
Advanced excel knowledge is essential
Strong accounting knowledge (GAAP)
Detail orientation and strong analytical and decision-making skills
Ability to work and communicate with all levels within the organization
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and hit deadlines
