About Bentley Labs
Bentley Laboratories is an OTC and cGMP formulation development and manufacturing partner for over 100 brands in the skin care, OTC and personal care industry, based in three sites spanning 350,000 total sq. feet in the Edison NJ area. Our customers are located across the country, and we produce well over 3,000 different products, utilizing a wide range of chemistries and over 50 manufacturing and production lines, including:
Surfactant chemistries to formulate and produce hair care, bath & body care products
Oil in water & water in oil emulsion formulations for skin care, and OTCs including SPF and Acne treatments
Hot fill applications for solid stick deodorants, lip balms, and other wax based ointments
Powders for dry shampoos and other loose power face applications
With this diverse and complex set of capabilities, the company employs over 400 people, with 250 devoted to the manufacturing conversion processes, and the remainder in salary roles devoted to innovation, product development, engineering, finance, sales, marketing, procurement, and customer service. The VP of Finance is a key member of the company executive team, and plays a critical role in our overall operations, finance, accounting, and business leadership.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the management accounts of the business inclusive of P&L management, reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. This role will be frequently presenting the operational performance to the exec team and to head office. This is a fast paced role which requires attention to detail, team work and high levels of initiative.
Responsibilities:
Review and analyze month and year end for both the profit and loss statement and the balance sheet
Preparation of annual budgets across key functional areas
Prepare weekly and monthly sales forecast
Analyze financial performance and forecast rolling 12 months
Record financial transactions for division
Prepare financial close journals on a complete and timely basis
Reconcile & prepare monthly balance sheets
Maintain records and support auditing efforts
Support central team with field testing during year-end audit procedures
Accurately report on National Statistics Data
Track and monitor capital spend, evaluating payback opportunities
Understand Inventory and assist departments to control versus KPI's
Commercial sales and cost analysis to help drive performance
Advise company and/or department management on financial decisions
Assist & support the directors, financial controller with queries
Work with teams to establish viability of initiatives and projects
Assist with profit improvement tracking, challenging departments on spend
Follow all company policies and procedures, raising any concerns to the financial controller
Communicate effectively with all teams, colleagues, and managers
Help promote a positive work environment
Any other duties that may be assigned
Requirements:
Accounting degree preferred
3 - 5 years + accounting experience
Ideally experience working in a manufacturing environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage priorities and workflow
Acute attention to detail
Proficient in Excel and ERP systems
Experience at a high growth company
Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
Strong teamwork skills; able to establish and maintain positive relationships with multiple departments
Clearly communicate plans and ideas, with careful attention to detail
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
