The experienced Senior Accountant is responsible for performing all key US GAAP accounting and financial reporting activities in support of our new Sun Day Red (SDR) apparel division. This individual has proven experience with independently identifying and appropriately addressing complex and subjective accounting and financial reporting matters with key stakeholders. Using excellent interpersonal skills, works well with leadership and all levels globally and cross functionally to meet organizational objectives. This role is based at our Sun Day Red division office in San Clemente, CA, but will work closely and spend time with cross-functional teams at our Carlsbad headquarters.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to global and cross-functional business partners and advise on accounting and financial reporting guidance in accordance with US GAAP and Company policies

  • Lead month-end close for Sun Day Red; prepare and validate SDR financial reporting packages and deliverables ensuring completeness and accuracy

  • Research and prepare technical accounting memos and provide guidance on subjective/unique transactions. Proactively monitor changes in US GAAP accounting standards and ensure clear understanding of financial impacts

  • Prepare journal entries, account analysis, balance sheet account reconciliations in FloQast and detailed reviews of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations including, but not limited to, cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable and accruals

  • Responsible for all elements of the fixed asset process including ensure appropriate accounting, Capital Expenditure Requests, fixed asset creation/disposition, roll forwards and reconciliations

  • Responsible for managing intercompany receivables and payables to ensure proper reconciliations and eliminations

  • Ensure internal control processes are appropriately followed

  • Functional lead on initiatives resulting in systems or process changes impacting SDR accounting. Collaborate with IT and business teams on Oracle and financial system setups to ensure proper accounting. Activities may include project management and testing of system changes

  • Responsible to submit monthly forecasts for balance sheet and cash flow statements

  • Lead to ensure SDR financial statement audit requirements are met through collaboration with colleagues (e.g., collecting deliverables from other departments) and external auditors

  • Address corporate accounting and related reporting inquiries. Research and document analysis of key trial balance fluctuations and present to Leadership

  • Problem-solve accounting and systems related matters

  • Identify and implement process and procedural improvements

  • Review of contracts and agreements to identify and summarize accounting implications and ensure compliance with US GAAP and Company policies

  • Lead presentations with senior leadership to present key financial results

  • Provide ad-hoc Oracle FCCS reporting and financial information, as requested by Finance Leadership and Management

  • Performs other responsibilities as required

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Highly proficient understanding of US GAAP

  • Advanced skills in Excel and strong skills in Business Objects/DOMO (or other reporting software)

  • Fast learner with strong organization, analytical, project management, prioritization and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency while delivering high-quality work products

  • Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with others at all levels and functions across the Company. Ability to lead and influence

  • Must be resourceful and apply critical thinking skills in solving problems and managing multiple tasks

  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team, join data from various sources and develop creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment

  • Experience working in a multinational organization. Highly adaptable in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Knowledge of other Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience with Oracle ERP and FCCS (Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Service consolidation software) a plus

  • Experience with FloQast and Visual lease a plus

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field

  • 4+ years of public accounting experience. Additional industry experience preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

  • Proficient understanding of US GAAP including application of new accounting standards

  • Proven experience with intercompany eliminations and consolidations including foreign subsidiaries

  • Big4 audit experience highly preferred.

  • Exposure to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and/or Sarbanes-Oxley preferred

  • Financial statement preparation experience preferred

  • Experience with technical accounting topics including leases, foreign currency hedging, intercompany eliminations and consolidations, new accounting standard implementations a plus

  • Experience working in apparel industry a plus

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions

  • Travel between HQ (Carlsbad) and SDR office (San Clemente)

  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to participate in international region calls

  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
