Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to perform varied accounting functions. Managing month end closing processes, recording journal entries, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, financial analysis preparation, perform joint venture accounting, retail accounting, and fixed asset accounting.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicates regular status updates.

  • Performs work with adherence to the global standards, protocols, and policies.

  • Supports the execution of internal operational improvement strategies.

  • Builds relationships with Operations contacts.

  • Ensures quality output.

  • Ensures the production of accurate and timely financial information in accordance with GAAP and LVS' accounting policies.

  • Adhere to Company policies regarding closing process, account reconciliation procedures and standards.

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities for your assigned areas.

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, analysis, journal entries, etc. in connection with the closing process.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, prepare and record transactions to the General Ledger.

  • Work closely with Accounting Managers to handle keying and posting of accounting transactions for general ledger maintenance.

  • Assist other accountants in preparing trend analysis and other special analysis.

  • Generate ad hoc accounting reports as needed.

  • Assists in managing the P&L for the operational group(s) assigned.

  • Safety is an essential function of this job.

  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.

  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar discipline is required.

  • CPA or equivalent preferred.

  • 5 years of Finance or Accounting experience within industry or public accounting firm is required.

  • Must have experience with financial analysis.

  • Possess strong PC skills such as Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge of mainframe financial systems (AS 400, Infinium and or Crystal software a plus) and be familiar with database software such as Cognos.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.

  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 10 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.

  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.

  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.

  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.

  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.

  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.

It is the responsibility of a Convention Service Manager to ensure the complete coordination of all conventions and convention meetings working closely with hotel departments to ensure the successful planning, set-up, and service of client's stay. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, policies, practices, and procedures, as well as within the framework of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino strategic intent. * Manages all aspects of convention, corporate and trade show bookings and other assigned events once assigned and on behalf of the hotel. * Establish positive working relationships and partnerships with all clients by understanding their expectations and anticipating their needs. * Coordinates the following functions for clients including but not limited to transportation, guest rooms, meetings, pre-planning, limos, amenities, site inspections, etc. * Assumes the role of the main point of communication between the client and all departments within the property both in pre-planning and on-site. * Represents Mandalay Bay in a professional and positive manner at all times, including off hours if on business travel. * Accountable for the overall success of multi-million dollar conventions. * Manages assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department and the property. * Participates in department staff meetings. * Manages the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company core service standards and brand attributes. * Works directly with clients on room set-up, décor, cost and billing details and other requirements pertinent to their program. * Ensures that necessary meeting facilities are reserved where applicable. * Hosts prospective and existing clients visiting the hotel, to include customer entertainment such as dining in hotel restaurants and accompanying to shows. * Participates in on-going training such as, but not limited to the company's diversity commitment, Master connection Sales Training, Departmental Training and Company/Corporate required training. * Performs other job related duties as requested.
