Senior Accountant

Summary of Role:

Serena & Lily is searching for a Senior Accountant for our fast-growing multi-channel retail business headquartered in Sausalito, CA . This role is part of the accounting / finance team and is responsible for the financial records for the company. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of prior accounting experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• The senior accountant position is responsible for working as part of the Accounting/Finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial records for the company

• Perform month-end closing accounting tasks including preparation of journal entries and informative account analyses, including reconciliations with supporting schedules to substantiate ledger balances and estimates used

• Research and explain monthly operational account variances for areas of responsibility and operating expense analytics

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide business solutions and more comprehensive processes of financial records, making use of current technologies

• Lead and manage our sales tax function, including sales tax set up and sales tax filings in various states, utilizing Avalara for certain sales tax filings

• Perform monthly sales tax reconciliations, ensuring payments to states are up to date.

• Assist with Sales Tax audits, other external tax and financial audits, as needed.

• Assist with other state compliance such as annual filings, property tax filings and business license renewals

• Assist with various projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting/finance

• Preferably CPA license / CPA track

• Preferably a strong understanding of US sales and use tax

• Minimum 2 years work experience in accounting

• Proficient in excel

• Adaptability to work with various information systems and platforms (prefer experience with Netsuite)

• Strong analytical skills, organizational and follow-through skills

• Ability to work in team environment, working together to accomplish team goals

• Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks to meet deadlines

• Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple engagements in a timely manner

• Strong understanding of US auditing and accounting standards, practices, and procedures

• Ability to work with company sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

• $110-115K per year is the anticipated starting base pay for this role. This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this role. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: experience, education, and skills.
