Senior Accountant REFERENCE CODE DS0010634202 - Senior Accountant Commercial Real Estate Growing Real Estate company is looking for a candidate for a Senior Accountant. This is a very hands-on role and the company is a great company to work for.

There is virtually NO OVERTIME! In this role you will be responsible for financial reporting, analysis, oversight of billing and AP, working with the outside CPA firm the month end close for assigned properties. Minimum requirements include 3+ yrs. general accounting experience or public accounting, Real Estate experience in industry or public accounting, strong organization skills, the willingness to be hands on, the willingness to take initiative and solid excel skills.

The Accountant I – Accounts Payable position processes payments in the Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS), reviews documents, appropriation, authorizations, transfers and/or adjusts appropriate balances. The incumbent manages one state-operated program, the Regional and Area Offices, as well as all payment activities related to Information Technology expenses. This position is responsible for reconciling financial documents, recording transactions and statements to ensure conformance with established standards and will meet with appropriate managers to review data as needed. They confer with agency personnel and outside agencies to resolve accounting discrepancies and/or obtain documentation necessary to meet State Accounting requirements. The Accountant I prepares financial statements and reports and maintains accounts and records such as cash receipt registers, budgetary control, etc. to reflect financial status in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.This person will review general and appropriation ledgers to check authorizations and transfers and/or adjust out of balance ledgers and provide technical assistance to employees, vendors, department heads, budget managers, state agencies, and/or county officials, legislators, and the general public to ensure compliance with agency laws, rules and regulations. They will interpret state and federal laws, regulations (801CMR), guidelines, and procedures for financial operations and accounting systems. They are responsible for making sure encumbrances are correct. This position confers with suppliers of goods and/or providers of services and their employees to explain state/agency rules, policies and accounting procedures governing payment and related financial transactions, billing correctly, calculated sales tax and late fees. This position reviews encumbrances prior to payment processing and ensures required documentation is provided for agency filing. They review financial reports for trends in major programs to determine their effect on spending and will examine contract awards and agreement investment procedures, etc., for compliance with agency laws, rules and regulations. The incumbent analyzes project expenditure patterns and makes recommendations or takes appropriate action to control spending. Substitutions: I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for the required (A) experience.* II. Successfully completed education in accounting or business administration in a recognized business school or school of accounting may be substituted for the required (A) experience on the basis of one year of such education above the high school level for six months of the required (A) experience.* * Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
