Job Summary:

Reporting to the VP Corporate Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role within our accounting department, contributing to accurate financial reporting and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong grasp of accounting principles (GAAP) and a knack for analytical thinking.

  • Collaborate in the month-end financial close process, encompassing the preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analyses.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting entries and financial data.

  • Prepare and file local compliance documents such as multi-state business property tax, sales & use tax filings, business licenses, and 1099s.

  • Work closely with department heads to address their needs and facilitate growth initiatives.

  • Support technical accounting research and assist in documenting new policies and procedures.

  • Contribute to designing and implementing internal controls and policies to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

  • Assist with financial and tax audits, liaising with external auditors to provide timely support and explanations.

  • Provide necessary data and collaborate with external tax preparers for the completion of annual and quarterly federal and state tax returns.

  • Engage in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance department.

  • Conduct research on data, entries, payments, and audit routines.

  • Analyze expenditures, providing financial justifications for spending as required.

  • Maintain compliance with company, state, and federal accounting practices, laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.

  • Undertake other duties as required to support the smooth functioning of the accounting department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Understanding and application of GAAP principles.

  • Previous exposure to cost accounting is a plus.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-Lookups.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • CPA

Salary range

$90K-$115K
