Senior Accountant

job summary:

Senior Accountant

We are looking for a highly skilled and Senior Accountant with excellent communication skills to join an employee-first professional services firm that focuses on accounting, estate planning and legal services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage cash needs of entities in the context of tiered ownership structures, including completion of monthly bank reconciliations

  • Process invoices and other transactions via checks or wires, and deposit proceeds received from investments

  • Coordinate and prepare investor capital calls/distributions, including allocation schedules, bank wires, checks, and similar documents

  • Prepare client requested reports and summaries, both on a monthly and ad-hoc basis

  • Interact with clients regularly and respond to all inquiries in a timely manner

  • Maintain and organize documents for tiered ownership structures of investment assets, including partnership agreements, organization charts, and other documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • Minimum of two years in an accounting role (private equity industry preferred)

  • Firm understanding of basic accounting rules and concepts

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Strong and professional communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely

Duties & Responsibilities * Post daily and monthly general ledger entries by compiling and analyzing account information * Evaluate, analyze, and process accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP * Assist in the month-end close process which includes preparation of month end general ledger entries as well as review responsibilities for accruals, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses. * Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of general ledger accounts by collecting and analyzing account information * Document review activities in accordance with compliance policies. * Maintains up-to-date accounting procedures. * Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly internal management reports * Provide ad hoc support to all departments relating to financial activities of the bank * Serve as backup to other accounting roles in the Finance Department * Identify accounting issues to management in a timely fashion. * Responsible for compilation, review, and scanning of all monthly and quarterly reconciliations to the document management system. * Monthly monitoring and posting of investment security purchases, sales, payments. * Responsible for set up of deferred fees on loans (FASB 91) as well as commission calculation for loan originator. * Miscellaneous administrative office tasks as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Experience * BA/BS in Accounting * Firm knowledge of GAAP * Bank accounting experience 2yrs+ within the industry * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Flexible attitude towards process improvements * Detail oriented with a proven ability to meet deadlines * Strong Microsoft office skills * Experience with Fiserv products a plus Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement Wellesley Bank provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
