Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant-Purchasing will work within the Finance team on day-to-day purchasing and accounting activities. The Senior Accountant-Purchasing will work closely with Operations Management to understand their purchasing methodology; and utilize systems, complete processes, and execute duties necessary for gathering, analyzing and reporting purchasing information. This position is integral to the business process, will assist in determining whether the process is operating within service levels, and identify opportunities where the process should be improved or re-engineered. Candidates should have excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The Senior Accountant-Purchasing will assist with the Finance month-end process and audits.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Procurement process responsibilities include overseeing process of creating, obtaining approvals for, receiving, and matching of purchase orders, primarily focused on our clinical trial and commercial businesses

  • Administer new vendor setups and new product codes

  • Process and code purchase requests, obtain approvals, and ensure compliance with company policy

  • Reconcile purchasing and related GL accounts

  • Assist with month-end Inventory close to reconcile open PO's and un-invoiced receipts

  • Assist accounting team with monthly accruals

  • Contribute to improve workflow efficiency, communication, and accuracy

Preferred Education and Experience

  • BA or BS degree

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in an international, multicurrency environment

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, or Technical Proficiencies

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles

  • Knowledge of purchasing and impact on Accounts Payable and the General Ledger

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Detail oriented and reliable with a professional attitude

  • Experience with SAGE X3 ERP a plus

  • High level of interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively interface with all levels of staff and management throughout the organization

  • Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and apply judgement by performing functions that may depart from standard procedure
