Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with expertise in both distribution and/or manufacturing environments to join our team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic decision-making for both our distribution and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including trend analysis, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) tracking, to assess financial performance and identify areas for improvement. Possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and experience in reconciling complex bank transactions.

  • ACH Transaction Management: Oversee the processing of ACH transactions, including payroll, vendor payments, and electronic receivables. Monitor ACH activity for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and banking regulations. Reconcile ACH transactions with bank statements and internal records on a regular basis.

  • Positive Pay Implementation and Maintenance: Lead the implementation of Positive Pay services with banking partners, ensuring seamless integration and effective fraud prevention measures. Configure Positive Pay system settings, including check issuance parameters, payee validation rules, and exception handling protocols. Monitor daily Positive Pay reports to identify and investigate discrepancies, unauthorized transactions, and potential fraud attempts.

  • Accounting Entries: Prepare journal entries and general ledger postings related to bank transactions, ensuring proper classification and accurate representation of financial data.

  • Accruals and Prepaids: Monitor and reconcile accruals, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper recognition and classification of expenses.

  • Intercompany Reconciliations: Perform intercompany reconciliations and eliminate intercompany transactions in consolidated financial statements, ensuring accurate reporting of intercompany balances.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline general ledger processes, enhance efficiency, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting through process improvements and automation initiatives.

  • Training and Development: Mentor and train junior staff in AR and AP procedures, providing guidance and support as needed, including being backup as needed.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and finance, to drive alignment and achieve shared objectives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in both distribution and/or manufacturing environments.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with advanced knowledge of GAAP or IFRS standards.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SysPro a plus) and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
