This position reports to the Manager-CorporateAccounting and primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly,quarterly and annual close process, supervision of fixed assets, monthlycorporate reporting, direct responsibility for all corporate and intercompanyJE's, and intercompany consolidations.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing general accountingentries and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP

  • Assistwith monthly/quarterly/annual consolidation of The Waddington Group (TWG)financial statements in HFM including review of GL mappings and site financialschedules. Work with field accountantsto resolve issues identified during the consolidation process

  • Responsible for analyzing P&L and balancesheet trends and obtaining concise explanations for trends and variances

  • Assist in Sarbanes Oxley compliance andauditing

  • Provide ad hoc analytical support to the

Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting

  • Responsible for balancing intercompanyaccounts with Parent company and other Companies within TWG

  • Reconcile financial statements from generalledger system to Corporate Hyperion system to ensure audit integrity offinancial reporting

  • Usesinitiative to drive process improvements, maintain/review corporatepolicies/procedures manual and ensure consistent implementation across sites

  • Assists in the integration of acquisitions, including ERP system integration/upgrade, GL mapping and financial statement consolidation

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 3-7 years of experience, preferablyin public or corporate accounting

  • Strong account reconciliation skills

  • Solid analytical, problem solving, communication,and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy

  • High level of and computer proficiency inMicrosoft office applications

  • Self-starter with the ability to learn fast andwork with little supervision

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and tasksunder pressure

  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills

  • Conscientious and able to work withconfidential information as needed

  • Positive, proactive work ethic and approachwith high level of integrity

  • Travel 5-10%

The Staff Accountant will also assist as needed with internal audit andtax requests, compliance and controls associated with SOX requirements, as wellas develop and deliver ad hoc reporting. Responsibilities: * Analyze financialresults including comparisons to budgets/prior periods, investigate variancesand recommend corrective actions * Prepare ad hocfinancial analyses * Use initiative to driveprocess improvements, assist in updating and implementing policy and proceduresfor all subsidiaries * Perform quarterlyreviews of subsidiary balance sheet account reconciliations and providerecommendations for improvements * Lead monthly andyear-end close procedures including account analysis, journal entries and accountreconciliations for Corporate Office, including intercompany and Corporateallocations with domestic and foreign subsidiaries * Answer accounting andfinancial questions by researching and interpreting data * Assist with year-endfinancial statement audit and annual compliance audits * Maintain fixed assetssoftware for Corporate Office * Assist withcompany-wide system integration * Assist with projectsrelated to acquisitions * Any other duties as assigned Key Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required * Minimum of one (1) year of experience in public or corporate accounting required * Good working knowledge of GAAP required * Minimum of intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required * Master's degree in Accounting or other related field preferred * 3 or more years of public or corporate accounting experience preferred; CPA is a plus * Manufacturing experience is a plus * Experience with IFS ERP system a plus * HFM experience a plus * Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of corporate accounting and GAAP: * Professional Presentation Skills – ability to use PowerPoint to develop fact based presentations * Strong Analytical Skills – Intermediate proficiency with Excel * Judgement and Decision Making: Ability to evaluate situations and reach logical conclusions * Problem Solving: Propose ideas, find new and better ways of doing things. Proactive in analyzing issues and solving problems * Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy * Planning and Organization: Good time management, organizational skills, and detail oriented * Interpersonal skills: Ability to work independently and on a team, displaying diplomacy in day-to-day interactions and working effectively with internal and external partners to Newell Brands and all its divisions.
