Job Summary

Our corporate activities are growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking a full-time, office-based Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. This position will work on a team to accomplish tasks and projects that are instrumental to the company's success.   • Perform monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting; includes preparing and posting monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis and investigation, issue resolution and coordination with other team members within the global finance team

  • Manage foreign external accountants and other service providers to comply with financial reporting requirements, deadlines, and global processes

  • Participate in the year-end financial statement audit through preparation of audit work papers and effectively responding to specific requests and inquiries from the external audit team

  • Assist in the enhancement, development, and implementation of process initiatives related to month-end close, financial reporting, business operations and process improvement

  • Lead various special projects that provide a better understanding of the company's business and operations and improves US GAAP and foreign statutory compliance


  • Very detailed oriented, highly motivated, strong analytical skills, proficient computer skills specifically in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • High degree of professionalism

  • Works well in a team environment, focused on career growth and development

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA or MBA preferred

  • 3+ years of related experience required

The Company Digital Partners (DP) was established at a time when digitalization is beginning to change the face of the insurance industry. DP partners with disruptors who are changing the way insurance is experienced by customers. DP's clients are digital insurance start-ups. These are creative technology companies, but not necessarily equipped with a profound knowledge of insurance. They are making use of new technology and a better understanding of consumer expectations to increase efficiency in the insurance industry. The Opportunity This position is responsible for helping to create and perform the accounting and finance processes for Digital Partners' U.S. operations. This position will be working closely with and help manage third party vendors performing back office functions such as accounting and MGA/TPA services. The position will also work closely with our insurtech and reinsurance partners to monitor data reporting and cash flows. Digital Partners is a newly formed Munich Re entity, so the position will allow for the candidate to make an immediate impact helping to create the accounting and finance processes and infrastructure from the ground up without existing legacy issues. The position will work on a small accounting and finance team with high visibility across the organization and will have many roles that require preparation of accounting and finance work. Knowledge of U.S. Statutory Accounting Principles and IFRS is preferred in order to coordinate the accounting and reporting between third party service providers, U.S. affiliated entities, the ultimate parent company, and the various Digital Partner entities. Responsibilities include: * Develop, maintain, and review business partners processes around reinsurance deals to ensure proper reporting (data reporting of premium/claims/billings, cash flow, and reconciliations) * Understand and execute reinsurance deals for both assumed and ceded business. * Review journal entries and financial transations from third party service providers and report to the Munich Re general ledger for P&C insurance carriers * Record journal entries, prepare financial statements, and report results for Digital Partners Holding Corporation * Complete quarterly and annual reporting to Munich Re including IFRS, Solvency II, and investment reporting * Assist with monthly and quarterly accounting tasks including account/partner reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, and recording insurance business * Provide support during the internal and external audits * Develop and maintain compliance with internal controls over financial information and operations including account reconciliations * Manage the third party service providers and review the annual and quarterly regulatory filings (Yellow Books) for the P&C companies to ensure accuracy * Assist with the creation of the accounting infrastructure and systems and establish department processes and best practices * Help create the annual forecast, quarterly forecast updates, and develop the annual long range financial planning process for Digital Partners U.S. operations * Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations of results, plans, forecasts and expenses for Digital Partners management Qualifications Qualified applicants will possess the following: * CPA with 3+ years of experience * Public accounting experience preferred * Working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. Statutory Accounting Principles * Working knowledge of designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) * Proficient working within a General Ledger operating system(s) and working with data retrieval tools * Ability to analyze data, identify trends and anomalies, and effectively communicate the findings * Strong financial analysis skills * Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to influence without direct authority * Strong team orientation, collaborating with co-workers and clients to develop and implement solutions * Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral) * Agility and ability to work in ambiguous situations * Strategic thinking and planning capabilities with strong insurance business acumen * Results-oriented - demonstrates self-motivation and creativity * Willing to travel up to 10% as needed Employment Type Full Time American Modern Insurance Group Cincinnati OH
