Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our GP Recycling team in Dothan, AL.

Role: As a Senior Accountant, you will create value for the organization as you provide month end close support, as well as accounting reconciliation and analysis for the GP Recycling business. You will also ensure that business reporting is accurate and timely, and you will partner with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and transformation. You will report directly to the Controller, who will provide feedback and guidance on your career development journey. As a Senior Accountant with GP, you will gain knowledge and experience for advancement to positions of greater responsibility and technical ability throughout the company.

Location: Our office is in Dothan, AL. We have a hybrid schedule of 2-3 weekly in office days and the opportunity to work from home part time. For more than 40 years, GP Recycling has been at the forefront of the recycling industry, significantly reducing the amount of materials sent to landfills so they can become new products that we use every day. GP Recycling is one of the largest pure traders of recycled fiber in the world, trading in excess of 100,000 tons per week. By focusing on close relationships with suppliers and customers rather than solely on market timing, we have built a collaborative network of trading partners around the world. Our Finance and Accounting team members are a vital part of our business!

What You Will Do

  • Perform month-end closing activities in a timely and accurate manner, including but not limited to journal entries, accruals and business reports as well as ensure compliance with company policies and meet closing deadlines

  • Develop relationships with internal/external customers and provide timely communication of information to stakeholders to ensure compliance and further enable sound decision making

  • Review large volume of data and find discrepancies using multiple systems, follow up until resolution is in place

  • Work with and support the larger GP Controllers organization, and Centers Of Excellence for Inventory, Internal Financial Controls, and Capital (review current processes, identify gaps/improvement areas, share knowledge)

  • Provide ad hoc information support and analysis to other departments (Operations, Tax, Audit, Corporate, etc.)

  • Work with external auditors and support the annual audit process

  • Advance the Principle Based Management culture by applying and reinforcing the company's Guiding Principles

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in an Accounting or Finance focused role(s) that demonstrates a working knowledge of financial accounting principles, the general ledger, month end close, account reconciliation and variance analysis, and internal financial controls

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field

  • Accounting or Analysis experience in the manufacturing sector

  • INFOR M3, Infinium and/or Blackline experience

  • Experience with developing solid process documentation

  • Experience in transformation and process improvements

  • Experience with system implementations, system upgrade, testing and/or reconciling transactions between multiple systems
