We are currently recruiting for a talented and experienced Senior Accountant to join the team in Tukwila, Washington.The Senior Accountant is an important member of the Finance team. The position will be responsible for preparing reports and financial documents, assisting with budgeting operations, reconciling general ledger accounts and related work as apparent or assigned. They will also contribute to financial planning and reporting efforts as well as accounts payable functions and other key initiatives in support of KCHA's mission.

Essential Functions

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Providing full finance and accounting services for the Greenbridge Department including:

  • Maintaining sales tracking sheet; determines Greenbridge Home sales amount allocation to MTW Loans and Net Disposition Proceeds; ensure documentation is up to date for HUD audits.

  • Developing and review Profit Participation Developer's Certificates; ensure accuracy and completeness for each house sold by builder.

  • Preparing monthly and quarterly sales reports.

  • Preparing the annual Greenbridge Department budget; project revenue and expenditures; perform mid-year adjustments as needed.

  • Tracking Greenbridge loans and restricted funds including HomeSight deferred loans, MTW Loan payments, COCC loans draws, and Net Disposition Proceeds restricted cash.

  • Coding all Greenbridge and Seola Garden invoices based on budget; ensure that appropriate Greenbridge costs are capitalized.

  • Analyzing department budget-to-actual variance; work with team members to identify and explain any variances; prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.

Preparing recurring and ad-hoc journal entries.Performing general ledger account reconciliation and prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.Creating and maintain allocation funds.Carrying out complex, analytical projects that guide management decision making.Assisting with the Accounts Payable process, including but not limited to, verifying vendor bank account information and process documentation.Assisting with the testing and implementation of upcoming financial software conversion.Cross-training with other Finance staff including Senior Accountants and Accounts Payable staff to provide back up when needed.Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, economics, or related field AND
  • Considerable experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, financial planning, coding journal entries, and analysisOR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understands technical aspects of the position by keeping up-to-date on the technical and procedural aspects.

  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting principles, and internal controls; accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking/treasury; and financial reporting.

  • Ability to interpret and explain applicable state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.

Demonstrates experience maintaining records (manual and electronic) and performing data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Salary & Benefits:

The complete salary range is $83,657.60 to $121,283.25, with a midpoint of $102,464.00. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market. Salary is negotiable.Performance based merit increase opportunities and COLAs are reviewed on an annual basis. After initial onboarding, this role will have the opportunity to work remotely up to 60% in accordance with the KCHA's flexible work arrangements; however, remote work conditions will be reviewed on a regular basis based on business and program need. Employees must reside in Washington State and have the ability to report to the Central Office in Tukwila as required based on business need. Some local travel may be required to support KCHA business needs.
