The Senior Accountant is a critical role within GCP's Corporate and North American finance team. This individual will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the North American entities' monthly closing and reporting processes. This role requires a solid foundation in US GAAP accounting, strong analytical skills and a passion for operational excellence. Key Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant
Prepare journal entries to support the monthly/quarterly financial close and reporting processes.
Develop an understanding and sense of stewardship with existing policies and procedures.
Assist with the analysis of financial information on the P&L and Balance Sheet.
Assist with requests from FP&A regarding actual to forecast variances for the North American entities.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports included in SEC and other regulatory filings, including audit support.
Project-based work including, but not limited to: supporting the development and implementation of internal financial systems, supporting ad-hoc accounting transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, and proposing and implementing process changes that foster efficiencies.
Analyze customer accounts receivable aging reports and record allowance for doubtful accounts in accordance with GCP policies and procedures.
Review significant business-related accrued liabilities including volume rebate accruals, sales incentive plan accruals, accrued commissions, and other accrued liabilities on a monthly basis.
Develop relationships with key functional individuals including, but not limited to, FP&A, Sales, Operations, Logistics, & Customer Service.
Monthly reconciliation in Blackline of assigned account balances in accordance with established policies. Investigation of any significant differences or aged items, and document resolution.
Help with the preparation of the corporate entity's quarterly review and annual audit schedules as requested to support the external audit cycles.
Maintain North American accounting processes and comply with internal controls for SOX.
Work Experience & Other Requirements for the Senior Accountant
3-5 years' related work experience, big four experience preferred.
Strong understanding of US GAAP.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate with all levels in an organization and cross-functionally.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with motivation to improve.
An ability to prioritize your workload and a flexible and adaptable nature that will allow you to thrive in GCP's fast-paced environment.
Experience with SAP and Blackline a plus.
