This position supports all functions of Property, Plant, & Equipment within the Fixed Assets team.

Maintains the general ledger of complex Sutter Health accounts as assigned, in order to prepare timely and accurate financial statements. Reconciles general ledger accounts, researches problems and questions, and prepares complex journal entries. Corrects and guides other team members as to general ledger accounts and reconciliations based on financial reviews by tax, audit, and reporting team. Communicates frequently with team leads and others to explain transactions on general ledger reports.

As a team member in Sutter Shared Services, assists in establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with customers to identify additional ways to be of service and ensure customer satisfaction. Maintains a positive and professional work relationship with all customers and members of teams across Sutter Shared Services.

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related major is required.

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in general accounting as typically acquired in 3 or more years, preferably in a service delivery environment

  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred

  • Experience in shared services/internal service delivery role preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Word, , PowerPoint, Access and strong experience with Excel
  • Experience with Lawson and working with large databases strongly desired

  • In depth knowledge of accounting and/or finance

  • In depth knowledge of financial analysis and reporting methodologies (e.g. regulatory reporting)

  • In depth knowledge of basic accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • In depth knowledge of Sutter Health Finance policies, practices and procedures a plus

  • Strong familiarity with Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Chart of Accounts is preferred

  • Familiarity with performance metrics and ability to meet identified targets

  • Solid understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and shared services enabling technologies (e.g. contact center technologies) is beneficial

  • Ability to learn new applications/software systems effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members to support continuous improvement

  • Ability to process requests consistently with high level of accuracy

  • Ability to work with, train and coach other team members

  • Ability to prioritize problems and promptly resolve or escalate when necessary

  • Strong analytics and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate the Sutter Shared Services organization as needed

  • Strong communication skills and have the ability to train others

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage individual assignments and complete duties within tight deadlines

VIEW JOBS 4/23/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-22T00:00 Works in a group that is responsible for preparing internal income and balance sheet statements, job costing analytics and various accounting statements and reports. Applies principles of accounting to prepare external financial reports, including but not limited to financial data requests. Performs and reviews bank account reconciliations and processes. Coordinates with the Staff Accountant to ensure daily cash processes are followed. Utilizes various ERP systems to gather data for internal job costing analytics. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Involved in reviewing records, completing studies relative to the accounting of transactions such as reserves, assets and expenditures. Prepares standard and non-standard journal entries. Audits, releases and processes journal entries in General Ledger. Performs variance analysis and also assists in the preparation of schedules and analysis relating to the annual external financial statement audit and interim quarterly financial statement review. Variance analysis may relate to financial or operational items. Responsible for the preparation of internal and external audit work papers and/or schedules as required relating to financial statements or internal controls over financial reporting. Assists in the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures required by various rule making agencies. Functions as a team member to work cooperatively with others to achieve assignment goals and objectives. Performs various administrative tasks. Supports the operation of various computerized financial and accounting systems. Under the direction of finance supervisors and managers, analyzes and researches various accounting treatments. Utilizes advanced accounting knowledge and technical literature. Resolves issues using existing general policies, broad guidelines and internal company policies. May be assigned specialized duties as necessary to support the enterprise. Qualifications Professional/Technical training or knowledge: Proficient in operating computers; strong PC skills with working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Strong knowledge of financial ERP systems; PeopleSoft a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills; be self-motivated; results orientated contributor possessing above average analytical skills and strong customer service skills. Excellent reasoning and analytical ability to research problems and provide viable solutions. To remain current with changing technology, periodic training is often required. Experience/Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5-8 years of related professional experience, certification or achievement of requirements to become certified in field of expertise such as a CPA, a plus.
