About the role

Finance Services is looking for a Sr. Analyst in our Brooklyn, NY location.

The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the Plant Accounting Team in ensuring the proper accounting, analysis, reconciliation, and accuracy of financial data across the Record to Report business activities and Fixed Assets Processes. This includes but not limited to analysis of capital projects, capitalizing all fixed assets, maintaining an accurate fixed assets system, and the associated accounting and financial reporting requirements. Specifically, this role is responsible for the technical aspects of Fixed Asset Accounting including but not limited to Lease Accounting, Asset Retirement Obligations, Contributions in Aid of Construction/Distributed Generation Accounting and Allowance for Funds Used During Construction.

This role reports to the Manager, Plant Accounting in US Business Services and is accountable for supporting the review of accounting transactions for accuracy and credibility.

What you'll do

  • Reviews and analyze plant accounts and transactions to identify and address discrepancies and produce accurate and credible data.

  • Supports month-end accounting close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete recording of financial transactions in PowerPlan and SAP.

  • Compiles and reviews financial information to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards.

  • Prepares, records, and processes plant transactions and adjustments as needed.

  • Executes and supports financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.

  • Assembles and reviews supporting documentation to ensure compliance with audits.

  • Responsible for supporting financial filings and reporting deadlines.

  • Prepares account reconciliations to support PowerPlan subledger to SAP ledger balances.

  • Subject Matter Expert for technical Plant Accounting processes including Lease Accounting, Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO), CIAC/DG and AFUDC.

  • Continuously search for enhancements to improve current processes to create efficiencies and reduce manual effort.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or Math is required with a minimum of 5 years' experience with increasing responsibility

  • To be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications

  • Ability to assess accounting issues and recommend solutions

  • Strong analytical interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees

  • To be organized and detail-oriented

  • Good problem-solving and time management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Proven track record to implement process improvements

  • Experience fixed asset accounting

  • General accounting experience

  • QA review experience

  • Process centric operations experience

  • Knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and IFRS

  • Process Management experience

  • Month-end close processes experience

  • Experience in risk mitigation

It would be great if you had

  • Master's Degree/CPA

  • Knowledge and/or experience using SAP, BI and PowerPlan

  • Utility industry accounting

  • FERC policy and procedures

  • Knowledge and/or experience using SAP, BI and PowerPlan

Annual Salary

$95,000-$112,000

Salary commensurate with experience.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
