What you'll do:

  • Handle day-to-day accounting operations as part of the accounting team (AP, AR, GL).

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

  • Contribute to an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close and timely reporting of all monthly financial information, including year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

  • Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Prepare journal entries and develop month-end reconciliations and roll-forwards for review.

  • Assist team regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions, including inter-company and foreign currency transactions.

  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.

  • Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

You have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 5+ years' experience in an accounting role

  • Juggling ability: You're comfortable with a high-volume list of varied tasks.

  • Tech-savviness: We're completely tech-enabled, and you'll need to quickly pick up our toolset.

  • An appetite for change: If something isn't working, we fix it. And then we fix it again.

  • Devotion to details: Our quality standard is the highest in the business.

We have doctors, therapists, and specialists on staff to help people get care when and where they need it most. * Maintain the general ledger for multiple entities including the recording of all month end journal entries, including visit revenue, prepaid expenses, accruals, payroll, debt, and intercompany activity * Ability to handle large volumes of transactions and prepare AR reconciliations across multiple sources of data. * Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, capital schedules, and bank reconciliations. * Coordinate with Accounts Payable Team for the coding and payment of invoices * Prepare monthly variance report, highlight and provide explanations for significant variances in operating report. * Provide a weekly cash flow of receipts and disbursements outlook for upper management * Prepare and present budget-to-actual analysis * Assist with quarterly review and annual audit requests * Seek out areas for process improvement and help in the development, maintenance and enhancement of internal controls * Accounting Degree * Strong knowledge of GAAP * 3+ years' experience in a health care company * Experience with Oracle, a plus * Detail oriented * Strong interpersonal skills * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines * Team player who embraces collaboration, change and process improvement Your Team: Should you join American Well and the Finance team, you can expect: Accounting and Finance is a service oriented organization that is responsible for supporting the company's operations in all aspects of its business.
