This position is part of the External Reporting team in Booking Holdings' corporate finance organization. The Sr. Accountant will interface with the BH Team and Brand personnel at various levels of the Company, as well as with internal and external auditors. Primary responsibilities include accounting research, drafting accounting policies and memos, providing technical support and assisting in the preparation of filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC").

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to members of the worldwide Finance and Accounting team on the treatment of accounting issues in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements

  • Research, evaluate and document technical accounting implications of complex or non-standard transactions

  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards

  • Maintain the accounting policies manual and assist in updating or developing new policies to ensure consistency and compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual filings with the SEC, including XBRL information, review of financial statements/ disclosures and coordination with internal and external auditors

  • Participate in SOX compliance efforts in relation to internal controls over financial reporting

  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of process improvements to simplify, standardize and streamline external reporting

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Required Experience:

  • 4-year college degree in Accounting; CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience with a working knowledge of SEC reporting;

  • Knowledge of Hyperion HFM and XBRL filing process a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -- * Manage risk management program documentation to protect the Company against unexpected/uninsured risks. This includes: * proper and timely receipt of insurance policies, endorsements, binders, coverage confirmations, schedules of insurance and related databases/documentation, and other policy documents * maintenance of policy file management systems and all insurance schedules * analysis of documents to assure accuracy and appropriateness of coverage * identify and analyze factors with the potential for causing financial and operational loss * provide timely recommendations of risk management solutions, including financing and alternative risk coverage methods to Management * Cash flow and accounting process management, including: * managing department payables and receivables in an effective and timely manner * developing budgets and assisting department management in projecting annual risk costs * forecasting monthly risk cash flow and * quarterly Risk Reserve Analysis process * Perform analysis and compile annual, monthly and ad hoc financial and/or risk reports * Assist in various projects such as internal/external audits, quarterly insurance broker and business partner performance evaluations * Manage and perform selected training for subsidiaries, department, internal EMCOR and business partners * Review stand-alone insurance program deductible/retrospective billings for subsidiary stand-alone programs, where applicable * Assist with acquisition due diligence to identify and analyze significant risk management issues and assist with subsequent integration of acquired companies * Direct selected insurance program placements and renewals, including but not limited to risk analysis, development and production of submissions, review of proposals, negotiation of terms, and review of related claim information * Development and Management of Policy File Documentation Database * Development, direction and management of Subsidiary Risk Questionnaires & Exposure Summaries * Management of Quarterly Risk Reserve Analysis, Reporting, and Process * Assist in development, review, processing of annual insurance allocations to field * Conduct insurance market research and monitor insurance insurers' ratings as required for financial strength and solvency and advise Manager of rating declines.
