The basic function of the Senior Accountant is to record journal entries related to various capitated agreements and joint ventures. Additionally to prepare the related account reconciliations for these areas.
Journal Entry Preparation:
Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of capitated and joint venture related journal entries.
Prepare and/or assist in the research of journal entry trends and reasonableness.
Prepare and or assist in the posting of any adjusting entries.
Account Reconciliation Preparation:
Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of account reconciliations.
Access the reasonableness of assigned accounts journal activity and validate appropriateness.
Assist in various ongoing projects to improve the close process and help us to consistently achieve a 10-day month end close.
Suggest and assist in implementing improvements that can help streamline outdated processes.
Assist in ad hoc requests (e.g. time sensitive requests from senior management and auditors).
Provide support and process explanations to our auditors.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
CPA or a candidate for CPA, a plus
Understanding of GAAP accounting
Intermediate skills in Excel and MS Access
Ability to identify and implement process improvements, including automation of manual processes
Strong verbal and written communication skills
At least 3 years' experience healthcare experience a plus
Detail-oriented and possesses the ability to manage multiple responsibilities under tight time frames
Possesses strong work ethic and integrity
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Professional skepticism and a willingness to challenge the status quo
Ability to conduct independent research and apply problem-solving skills to complete special projects
Knowledge of Oracle Cloud/PeopleSoft or similar general ledger systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
