The basic function of the Senior Accountant is to record journal entries related to various capitated agreements and joint ventures. Additionally to prepare the related account reconciliations for these areas.

Responsibilities:

Journal Entry Preparation:

  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of capitated and joint venture related journal entries.

  • Prepare and/or assist in the research of journal entry trends and reasonableness.

  • Prepare and or assist in the posting of any adjusting entries.

Account Reconciliation Preparation:

  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of account reconciliations.

  • Access the reasonableness of assigned accounts journal activity and validate appropriateness.

Process Improvements:

  • Assist in various ongoing projects to improve the close process and help us to consistently achieve a 10-day month end close.

  • Suggest and assist in implementing improvements that can help streamline outdated processes.

Audit Requests:

  • Assist in ad hoc requests (e.g. time sensitive requests from senior management and auditors).

  • Provide support and process explanations to our auditors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • CPA or a candidate for CPA, a plus

  • Understanding of GAAP accounting

  • Intermediate skills in Excel and MS Access

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements, including automation of manual processes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • At least 3 years' experience healthcare experience a plus

  • Detail-oriented and possesses the ability to manage multiple responsibilities under tight time frames

  • Possesses strong work ethic and integrity

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Professional skepticism and a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to conduct independent research and apply problem-solving skills to complete special projects

  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud/PeopleSoft or similar general ledger systems, and Microsoft Office Suite

Reports to: Director, Corporate Accounting Location: New York, NY The Senior Accountant will be a key player in the month-end close as well as have an opportunity to grow within a dynamic finance organization. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Prepare and distribute monthly departmental expense analyses to management explaining key variances * Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet account analyses including reconciliations, rollforwards and variance analyses * Maintain monthly analysis of all accrual accounts and prepare monthly accrual reports * Maintain debt analyses including preparation and maintenance of amortization and accretion schedules and related journal entries * Maintain third party receivable accounts, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies * Compile financial information to support the preparation of 10-Ks, 10-Qs and earnings releases including preparing quarterly financial reporting packages * Continuously evaluate monthly close processes with an eye toward improvement * Assist with internal and external reviews and audits, providing supporting documentation and responding to queries as needed * Ad hoc management reports as requested JOB REQUIREMENTS * Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience * Bachelor's degree in Accounting required * CPA or CPA candidate a plus * Proficient with Microsoft Excel (Advanced, Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Conditional formulas) * Oracle/Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and Blackline experience is preferred * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proactive, self-starter capable of working independently, following through on tasks in a timely manner * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment IAC New York NY
