We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join our team at our Corporate branch in San Jose. This role is responsible for assisting the Controller with all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, as well as assisting year-end audit preparation. An ideal fit for this position would be an individual who embraces family-owned business culture supporting the construction/trades industry, who is open to process change as the needs of the business dictates as well as identifying process improvements all while working within a collaborative team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparation and timely reporting of consolidated corporate and individual branch financial statements, supporting schedules, journal entries, and variance analysis.

  • Maintain fixed asset system; reconcile fixed asset accounts to GL; manage quarterly and annual transfer, disposal, and physical count reports.

  • Preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly state sales tax reports. Ensuring compliance by maintaining accurate and updated sales tax rates by cities, counties, and agricultural regions.

  • Advises accounting team regarding handling of non-routine transactions and/or sales taxation matters.

  • Support controller with special projects, assistance within coordination of annual audits, surveys, and workflow process improvements as required.

  • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial reports and financials trends to assist the controller in performing his responsibilities.

  • Establish credibility throughout the department and organization as effective guide, mentor, and resourceful point of contact.

Qualifications, Experience, Competencies and Education:

  • An experienced individual with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including internal controls.

  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

  • A strategic visionary with initiative, sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus

  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.

  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.

  • A decisive individual who possesses big picture perspective.

  • BS degree in accounting, CPA preferred. Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience with emphasis on the general ledger & financial analysis.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to prepare, organize, and analyze complex financial information.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, effectively organize, prioritize, and time manage workload.

  • Strongly PC proficient and experienced with automated accounting software. Robust experience with Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) and ability to provide Ad-hoc reporting.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Team player and supportive of colleagues.

We are seeking someone with revenue accounting experience who understands revenue recognition in a dynamic and high growth organization. This role will report to Director of Revenue. Responsibilities: * Lead monthly close cycle to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting; record revenue related journal entries and complete account reconciliations. * Review purchase order terms to ensure proper revenue recognition accounting in the system * Perform monthly data validation procedures on sales order and invoices * Liaison with the business groups (i.e. training and professional service groups) to ensure corresponding revenue is recognized correctly in RevPro; Provide revenue summary on a month basis * Assist with FV analysis; review and update list price analysis as necessary * Collaborate with the other finance departments and business partners to provide ad hoc research, reporting and projects as it pertains to revenue * Work closely with ERP team to track projects in progress and system enhancements; Identify and recommend process improvements for the betterment of the Company. * Assist with SOX implementation and testing by designing and implementing process and controls to ensure SOX compliance * Will be involved in special projects as necessary Desired Skills & Experience: * A Bachelor's Degree in Finance/ Accounting with a minimum of 3 years working experience in revenue accounting.
