We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join our team at our Corporate branch in San Jose. This role is responsible for assisting the Controller with all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, as well as assisting year-end audit preparation. An ideal fit for this position would be an individual who embraces family-owned business culture supporting the construction/trades industry, who is open to process change as the needs of the business dictates as well as identifying process improvements all while working within a collaborative team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Preparation and timely reporting of consolidated corporate and individual branch financial statements, supporting schedules, journal entries, and variance analysis.
Maintain fixed asset system; reconcile fixed asset accounts to GL; manage quarterly and annual transfer, disposal, and physical count reports.
Preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly state sales tax reports. Ensuring compliance by maintaining accurate and updated sales tax rates by cities, counties, and agricultural regions.
Advises accounting team regarding handling of non-routine transactions and/or sales taxation matters.
Support controller with special projects, assistance within coordination of annual audits, surveys, and workflow process improvements as required.
Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial reports and financials trends to assist the controller in performing his responsibilities.
Establish credibility throughout the department and organization as effective guide, mentor, and resourceful point of contact.
Qualifications, Experience, Competencies and Education:
An experienced individual with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including internal controls.

BS degree in accounting, CPA preferred. Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience with emphasis on the general ledger & financial analysis.
Ability to prepare, organize, and analyze complex financial information.
Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
Ability to meet deadlines, effectively organize, prioritize, and time manage workload.
Strongly PC proficient and experienced with automated accounting software. Robust experience with Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) and ability to provide Ad-hoc reporting.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
