Under supervision of the accounting manager this exciting new role will support a wide range of accounting functions including the monthly close, SEC and financial reporting, SOX, the external audit, revenue recognition and process improvements. The individual must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply accounting principles. Communication and cross-departmental cohesion are vital in this position.

What You'll Do:

  • Support key areas of the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting on general ledger and financial results

  • Assist in the timely preparation of journal entries, supporting schedules and analysis, and reconciliations

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC requirements

  • Assist with monitoring compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls

  • Assist with the successful completion of the year-end audit and quarterly reviews

  • Identify, recommending, and implementing improved accounting and reporting processes.

  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of ASC 606 on revenue recognition

  • Capture best practices and lessons learned following each quarterly close cycle to feed continuous improvements in process, tools, communication and training

  • Ad hoc projects to be determined as they arise

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 3 years accounting experience, CPA required

  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with colleagues in a professional and helpful manner

  • Motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced, forward-moving environment

  • Ability to learn and understand financial accounting systems/software: NetSuite, Zuora, and/or SalesForce software experience a plus

This individual will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the corporate entities' monthly closing and reporting processes. This role requires a solid foundation in US GAAP accounting, strong analytical skills and a passion for operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: * Maintain actual and forecast calculations for incentive compensation * Record monthly accruals * Maintain prepaid general ledger accounts * Assist with maintaining pension accounting schedules and annual benefit plan audits in US and Canada * Prepare month-end/year-end journal entries * In-charge of calculating and overseeing global cross charges * Prepare account reconciliations as needed * Partner with the Financial Close System team to support consolidations/monthly closes * Troubleshoot and help resolve system performance issues * Prepare disclosures for 10K and 10Q SEC filings * Support Blackline administration globally * Streamline and standardize global use of Blackline * Support reporting of intercompany out of balances and oversee the entire process * Assist in FX management within systems – help identify and source problems as they pop up in consolidations * Updating and keeping fresh key reports used to support analysis * Liaison for our Shared Service team in the Philippines regarding reconciliation issues * Interact with internal/external auditors and provide support for their requests * Maintain corporate accounting processes and comply with internal controls for SOX * Other duties as assigned Job Specifications: * Bachelors Degree, CPA/ MBA preferred * 3-5 years of progressive financial experience in public accounting firm or corporate accounting department * Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required * Experience with SEC Reporting desired * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite * Experience with SAP desired * Strong interpersonal skills- ability to communicate to all levels in the organization and across functions * Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment GCP Applied Technologies Cambridge MA
