Overview

Bio-Rad is seeking a Senior Accountant.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform worldwide lease accounting and reporting. This role will report to the RTR GL Manager at the North America Shared Service Center and will work with a number of internal domestic and international business partners at Bio-Rad.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes for operating leases and preparing reconciliations for related balance sheet accounts.

  • Accounting and reporting relating to the Company's operating lease portfolio for fixed and variable rent, percentage rent calculations, tenant incentives etc.

  • Preparing and reviewing lease accounting schedules under ASC 842, maintaining FX & discount rates and ensuring that they are appropriately applied to lease agreements.

  • Assisting Corporate Reporting team on gathering necessary information to support all lease accounting disclosure requirements for the Company's filings with the SEC.

  • Accounting for lease terminations and modifications.

  • Working with local finance teams to establish controls necessary to capture all new leases on a timely basis.

  • Preparing and maintaining lease accounting policies and procedures, as well as participating in training of relevant finance personnel worldwide.

  • Supporting ad-hoc lease accounting-related requests and development of new functionalities and reporting capabilities within the Company's LeaseQuery lease accounting system.

  • Assisting GL team on Corp HFM entries, M pack and Q schedules on a timely basis.

  • Assisting manager with special project as needed.

  • Assisting manager with providing Internal and External audit requests.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or above degree in Accounting.

  • CPA preferred.

  • 2-4 years of professional experience with a public accounting experience preferred.

  • Accounting experience in the areas of lease accounting and restructuring a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.

  • Excellent time management, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Strong initiative and a process improvement mindset.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • LeaseQuery experience a plus.

Technical Opportunity: You will be a part of the Systems Engineering Team, a multi-disciplinary team developing instrument systems solutions for Bio-Rad's Life Sciences portfolio, including the biomedical imaging, PCR, microscopy, chromatography, and cell sorting instrument platforms. You'll report directly to the Head of Systems Engineering and be part of a larger multi-disciplinary R&D team. Come join us and be a key player in our next breakthrough product. You will partner and work with talented engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists to develop integrated chemical and fluidic systems. This work will span from the research stage through product launch. A solid engineering foundation is required, coupled with a systems-level approach to product concept definition, design, and testing. A desire and capacity for leadership in coordinating development and testing plans with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists in product development is essential. The position will leverage technical abilities in optical, electrical, and mechanical engineering design, including imaging and illumination science, opto-mechanical alignment, and fluidics engineering. Responsibilities * Support product development and design by executing system-level testing, and performing root-cause failure analysis. * Participate with cross-functional teams in developing system requirements & architecture definitions, system-level and reliability test plans, and traceability of testing to requirements. * Provide technical knowledge of system engineering principles and their application to developing cost-effective, reliable and high-quality systems that satisfy customer needs and business requirements. * Assist in the adoption and execution of Systems, Reliability, Risk, Usability, Utilities and Requirements engineering. * Generate testing strategy and test execution updates and reports to project stakeholders and Management. Qualifications * A minimum of 8 years (12 preferred) experience in engineering design and testing. * A BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, or Systems Engineering. * Experience in product development from the design concept phase into production. * Experience developing product definition requirements, including synthesizing input from Voice-of-Customer and Marketing input and linking design and customer requirement criteria into well-defined technical specifications. * Knowledge and familiarity in developing and fulfilling qualification testing plans, including execution of Verification, Validation and Reliability testing, while utilizing traceability management to link test plans to product specifications and requirements. * Capacity in bringing a systems-level approach to mechanical, electrical, software/firmware and optical sub-systems interactions, and apply these skills during design and product testing including customer-facing product applications testing. * Ability to assess and balance tradeoffs among cost, schedule, and performance while maintaining an acceptable level of risk covering the entire life cycle of an engineering component or system. * Proficiency in performing product Risk & Failure Modes Analyses, First Article Inspections, Technical Specifications development, defect tracking, and traceability management. * Experience with Jama or similar Requirements Management tool is desired. * Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD tool is preferred. * Experience with Labview, Matlab or other measurement, control, and analysis software is vital. * Experience with SAP (engineering PDM documentation management) is a bonus. * Ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical teams with exceptional organizational skills. * Comfortable in a laboratory environment with excellent hands-on abilities. * Excellent oral and written communication skills are vital for this role. * Please note this is not a Firmware development role.
