Job Summary

Working alongside the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for recording journal entries, maintaining asset and liability schedules, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and processing tax filings. You will prepare financial reports and analysis as requested by the Controller and provide recommendations for improved processes and internal financial controls.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to work well under pressure for extended periods of time

  • Attention to detail, focus, and time management skills, needed to meet deadlines

  • Competent with computer systems and proficient with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP practices, standards, and applications

Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks:

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain schedules explaining the month-end balances

  • Prepare monthly billing reports and analysis

  • Prepare accruals, including tax and loan interest accruals

  • Review bank account reconciliations

  • Assist with the preparation of and updating of monthly metric reports

  • Prepare tax returns (sales and use, property, real property, telecommunication, and 1099/1096.)

  • Maintain the fixed asset records in Asset Keeper, record depreciation monthly in the general ledger ensuring the appropriate asset life is being used, and reconcile.

  • Review expenses each month to ensure that no fixed assets or prepaid deposits were misclassified in the general ledger

  • Assist in budget and financial forecasting

  • Produce balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as necessary

  • Maintain financial security by following and enforcing internal procedures and controls

  • Prepare schedules/roll-forwards and answer requests during annual audits

  • Additional Projects and assignments as needed

Job Qualifications / Skill

Requirements:
  • Maintain a consistent and predictable schedule & work 40 hrs/week

  • Strong understanding of Financial Statements and GAAP

  • Must have 3+ years of experience performing related accounting processes

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is necessary

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Products, and ERP Systems

  • Must be able to read and speak clearly in English

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate professionally both written and verbal

  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills

Also provides detailed or summary costing and inventory data to management. Job Qualifications * Bachelor's in Accounting with at least two years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred. * Experience with MAUC (moving average unit cost) and actual costing. * Ability to research and analyze operational and accounting issues and effectively report findings to management in written and/or oral form. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. * Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software. * Experience with Infor products, Baan and M3, a plus but not required. * Ability to critically analyze data, meet deadlines, and work under pressure. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
