We are seeking a Senior Accountant in Wausau, WI who will maintain accounting policies, practices and procedures for Aspirus, Inc. and its subsidiaries. Work as an advisor and consultant in reviewing policies and financial activities to develop and recommend future policies and practices.

Location: Aspirus Corporate Office Wausau, WI

Specific duties include:

  • Analyzes financial activities and recommends future policies and plans to the Director of Fiscal Services, Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and administration based on interpretation and judgment of financial data and other statistical information.

  • Maintains accounting policies, practices and procedures. Installs and maintains new or modified accounting systems.

  • Coordinates activities concerning financial matters, general accounting, accounts payable, financial and statistical reports, cost and reimbursement, and property accounting.

  • Participates in the preparation of the financial statements, reports and statistical analysis.

  • Administers effective internal controls and functional audit trails.

  • Assists in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Leads the development, configuration, and maintenance of the accounting data systems for Aspirus Inc., and its affiliates.

  • Is responsible for effective internal control and functional audit trails for classifying and accounting for fixed assets and major movable equipment of Aspirus and its subsidiaries.

  • Researches various tax and financial issues as they present and implements system or procedural modifications relating to the financial matters within Aspirus and its subsidiaries.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and education requirements:

  • Knowledge of Accounting of standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area.

  • Minimum of three years' financial management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

  • Previous supervisory experience beneficial.

  • CPA status beneficial

Position Overview We are looking for an Audit Senior specializing in nonprofit, government, and/or tribal industries in our Duluth, MN office. You will conduct audits, reviews, and compilations, prepares financial statements, and communicates results to client and firm associates. Everything you'll do will come back to providing exceptional audit activities for our clients. Responsibilities * Respond to client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, positive and professional manner * Prepare client correspondence, letters, e-mail, or other communications pertaining to engagement planning and requests * Perform audit, review, and compilation testing procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leaders * Complete engagement programs and checklists and respond to review comments * Communicate with engagement leaders regarding open items, testing problems, or other important matters in a timely manner * Prepare (or review client prepared) financial statements and footnotes, management reports, and other engagement output * Adhere to prescribed budgets and deadlines * Train and mentor associates and interns on audit process and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed. * Develop technical competency with GAAP, especially related to assigned product line, to include specific areas such as receivables, inventory, costings, etc. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting * A minimum of 3 years' work experience as an auditor in a public accounting firm * US CPA licensure in your work state preferred * Experience in auditing nonprofit and government clients * Actively participate in firm sponsored events for assigned product line clients and prospects * Working knowledge of US GAAP * Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management * The flexibility to constantly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment * Willingness to travel up to 30% Recruiting Process Our recruiting team will guide you through our evaluation and interviewing process.
