We are seeking an experienced senior accountant to join our accounting team to help us improve our accounting procedure and functions.

The senior accountant will support the controller with a wide variety of functions which include transactional processing, financial analysis, annual budget development and monitoring, cost allocation, monthly forecasts, annual audit support and the implementation of financials and compliance controls. The senior accountant will serve as a key resource for the organization and provide daily financial oversight to ensure that the financial records are complete, accurate and comply with GAAP, policies and regulations and to facilitate solid decision support.

This position will report to the Controller.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Prepares supporting schedules for general ledger accounts. Analyzes and reconciles specified balance sheet accounts monthly

  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to Controller's attention

  • Assists with preparation of monthly financial statement, reports and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information

  • Prepares cash flow projections

  • Prepares Sales tax filings

  • Enter semi-monthly payroll entry into QuickBooks

  • Reconcile payroll deductions with corresponding payables

  • Enter credit memos and update accounts for notes

  • Disburse petty cash through verification of documentation and recording entry

  • Manage large invoices utilizing Microsoft Excel to disaggregate by department and employee

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 2 year of accounting experience required

  • Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable experience is required

  • Solid understanding of accounting practices and principles

  • Compliance experience with revenue recognition, asset and stock acquisition, lease capitalization is required

  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel - SUMIF, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP formulas are frequently used

  • Self-motivated, high initiative and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked and fast paced environment with firm deadlines

  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

The candidate will report to and work closely with the Controller to prepare, review and deliver timely and accurate financial and operating information to the company leaders on a recurring basis. Responsibilities include cash management, treasury operations, financial reporting, A/P, A/R, general ledger, revenue recognition and bank reconciliations in a team environment. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate with the CFO, Controller and other company leaders on special projects and requests, as required, to accommodate accelerated growth and strategic initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Leads the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with US GAAP as well as analyzing and reviewing financial statements and variances. * Perform month-end general ledger close activities including accruing expenses, preparing, reviewing and recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger and sub-ledger accounts and other analysis. * Prepare, review and analyze balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations. * Provide guidance and support to the treasury management function. * Prepare the monthly reporting packages including analysis of current actual results to prior period actual results to budget for internal management reporting and external reporting. * Provide audit support and assist in the compilation of information to external auditors * Assist in the transition to a new ERP system. Serve as the subject matter expert in the accounting system and its processes by assisting in the implementation and maintenance of controls and other ancillary system upgrades. * Reviews and develops policies and procedures to ensure SOX compliance. * Perform other tasks as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Day to day supervisory responsibilities may include direct or dotted-line management of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable staff. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required. * Master's Degree or CPA required. * At least 5 years' experience in accounting, financial reporting or related field.
