Job Description:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for finance and accounting information for the TB Wood's business including but not restricted to preparation of financial information for the Chambersburg, PA manufacturing and warehousing operation, the Sparks, NV, Houston, TX warehousing operations.

The Senior Accountant is hands-on and highly interactive with operations leadership as well as corporate finance and external audit firms and requires an attitude and emphasis on providing excellent customer service and experience to the business.


  • Preparation of monthly financial results for the TB Wood's businesses (monthly closing journals, reconciliations, loading of Tagetik, financial statement prep) including, but not limited to:

  • Chambersburg, PA Manufacturing and Warehousing

  • Sparks, NV Warehousing

  • Houston, TX Warehousing

  • Preparation of monthly financial analysis for, but not limited to the companies/locations listed above.

  • Participate in annual budgeting process for all locations listed above.

  • Support operations management in financial analysis of (but not limited to) departments, value streams and plant/office/support areas.

  • Provide accurate and timely financial information to both Internal and External Audit Team members, as well as corporate finance department team members and division leadership; as requested.

  • Assist TB Wood's Controller as needed

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors degree with Accounting Major/concentration;
  • CPA license is preferred


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) Missing required and/or preferred functional knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting activities, such as journal entry preparation and posting, account reconciliations and analysis, preparation and analysis of financial statements, and application of accounting policies.

  • Broad, up-to-date knowledge of and ability to research GAAP and related guidance

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel. Experience in SAP, Man/Man, Hyperion and/or Tagetik is preferred.

  • Result-oriented with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and multiple priorities. Highly productive with a strong sense of urgency and orientation to details, accuracy, and excellent outcomes

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills which fosters teamwork and collaboration and develops high quality working relationships in order to influence, gain support, and achieve results.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and an advocate for change. Exposure to lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to internal processes and change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Strong work ethic, including the ability to be self-directed and self-motivated. Models professionalism, passion, and initiative with projects and tasks.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary and sensitive information with integrity.

  • Willing and able to occasionally travel domestically to other Altra sites in North America, as well as attendance at off-site meetings/events and professional development conferences or seminars.

  • Willing and able to work extended hours as required, including holidays and weekends.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority of time is spent in a general office environment, but frequent time will also be spent in a manufacturing production environment where personal protective safety equipment must be worn and proper safety precautions must be observed.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to: frequent sitting and occasional bending and stooping. Potential sensory demands include, but are not limited to: hearing and seeing. Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing facility and travel to other facilities as needed, which could entail walking, climbing and moving around working equipment.
