  • Respond to client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, positive and professional manner

  • Prepare client correspondence, letters, e-mail, or other communications pertaining to engagement engagements

  • Perform financial statement compilation procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leader

  • Manage day-to-day financial reporting accuracy for assigned clients utilizing available tools to ensure efficient client workflow and on-time processing of client information

  • Prepare and finalize accounting period closes

  • Provide onsite services as requested by client

  • Participate in cross utilization of teams and/or lead software implementations, conversions and setups as assigned. Utilization of QuickBooks and Intaact software programs.

  • Complete engagement programs and checklists and respond to review comments

  • Communicate with engagement leaders regarding open items or other important matters in a timely manner

  • Prepare (or review client prepared) financial statements, management reports, and other engagement output

  • Adhere to prescribed budgets and deadlines

  • Develop technical competency with GAAP and OCBOA compiled financial statements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical accounting assistance to clients

  • Participate in core CPE programs

  • Actively participate in firm sponsored events for assigned service/industry line clients and prospects


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

  • 1-3 years of experience in public/private accounting working with clients in $1 to $10MM revenue

  • Quickbooks knowledge preferred

  • Actively maintain certifications

  • An engaging personality and the abilty to build and manage relationships

  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA) encouraged or working toward CPA

VIEW JOBS 2/11/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-11T00:00 The Finance Shared Services organization was established as one of the key new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all international affiliates. The Finance Shared Services Senior Accountant will play a critical role in the preparation of financial statements for Americas. This position will work closely with a number of stakeholders across the organization to support financial decision-making process by collecting, analyzing and reporting financial data. Key Responsibilities Include: Perform relocation accounting related tasks: * Review and approve ExPat and Relocation accounting journal entries and account reconciliations related to ExPats for LATAM and US regions; ensuring that journal entries and reconciliations are consistently recorded in accordance with SOP-RTR-9.0; * Lead for US Domestic Accrual relocation & Charge out monthly journal entries, accrual utilizations and balance sheet accrual reconciliations. * Work with external vendors (BGRS, PwC) to coordinate Cost Estimates, Billing & Tax queries Perform global meeting related tasks: * Process global meeting costs: validate expenses in SRM, assign meeting numbers and cards, ensure proper booking of prepaid and liability * Ensure appropriate booking of expenses for meeting attendees; charge out to affiliates/Functions based on BSG LBE; coordinate final closing of meeting. Perform non for-profit organizations tasks: * Execute monthly accounting and prepare financial reports for the AbbVie Foundations and Patient Assistance Funds (charitable organizations). Partner with the business to ensure adequate accounting controls and assist with annual audit, tax preparation and management reporting. * Prepare quarterly lobbying report. Basic: * Bachelor's degree in accountancy /finance * 4+ years of accounting experience; CPA or MBA a plus * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are key attributes for success * Ability to multi task and deal with time constraints to effectively manage various deadlines * Strong organizational skills with attention to detail * Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization * Strong computer skills, particularly experience with Excel and SAP is required Additional Information * Significant Work Activities and Conditions: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day) * Travel: No * Job Type: Experienced * Schedule: Full-time * Job Level Code: IC Abbvie, Inc North Chicago IL
