Edelman is in search of a seasoned public affairs Senior Account Executive to join our Washington DC team. We are looking for someone who understands the intersection of media, politics and issues management.

We've built our public affairs practice by understanding the roles culture, commerce and media play in shaping opinions, advancing issues and driving outcomes. With this ethos in mind, we collaborate in leveraging digital and social tools to engage key audiences, promote our clients' positions and protect their license to operate. We combine deep digital expertise with Edelman's incredible communications marketing credentials and scale to create impactful and measurable outcomes for our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply your broad and deep experience leveraging paid, earned and owned media initiatives to driving outcomes at the Federal, State and Local levels for clients.

  • Lead day-to-day operations of client business; serving as a primary contact for the client

  • Hands-on experience designing fully-integrated data driven programs to achieve outcomes on critical issues across multiple sectors including, energy, healthcare, and trade.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of digital-first policy solutions and how they complement field, traditional and earned media efforts

  • Lead collaborative scenario planning, strategy and thought leadership sessions with internal staff and clients

  • Gain consensus and work with internal and external partners, including industry coalitions, international consortiums and working groups.

  • Counsel clients on strategies to promote and protect their business in current and future political climate.

  • Mentor, coach, educate and manage your direct reports and account teams

  • Oversee and manage advocacy campaign execution, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, research and online influencer engagement projects, program measurement and budgets

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful digital and social media corporate and public affairs programs with aggressive timelines is preferred

  • Excellent client and interpersonal skills; ability to manage independent client relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person

  • Superior ability to write and edit documents and content to ensure clarity, persuasion and polish.

  • Strong financial acumen, able to manage large budgets and staffing projections

  • Works well in a team-based collaborative environment that focuses on outcomes, not process.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience providing sound counsel and recommendations on how the business is operated and managed.

  • Existing relationships within the political and advocacy space

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Experience in the energy, mining and pharma sectors is strongly desired

  • Experience working on Capitol Hill or with State Legislatures is strongly desired.

  • The senior account executive must have at least two years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.

The Centers of Excellence (COE) within Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) is a hub for strategy and expertise on the global government affairs and public policy issues impacting our business today and in the future, ensuring that Google has a truly global perspective on our public policy issues. The Data Governance CoE pursues this mandate for issues related to privacy, information security, government access, digital infrastructure, and other topics related to data protection and data governance. We are subject matter experts in our functional area and we think across product and geographic boundaries to inform, protect, and advance the goals of the company In your specific role as Privacy Senior Analyst within the Data Governance COE, you will be part of a dynamic, global team of privacy, security, and data governance experts with deep subject matter expertise. You will shape the broader public policy team's voice on the range of issues related to privacy and data protection. You are on top of data protection trends around the world and understand their importance to the company and its users. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect. Minimum qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, Computer Science, or a relevant policy or technical field, or equivalent practical experience. * 7 years of experience working on privacy and/or, cybersecurity policy issues within industry, government, think tanks, or public interest groups. Preferred qualifications: * Experience engaging with policy stakeholders or domain thought leaders internationally. * Demonstration of ability to bridge policy and technical communities. * Domain expertise at the intersection of privacy and internet technology. * Team player, adept within global, cross-functional teams. Operates well within ambiguous environments and on emerging issues. * Ability to connect how public policy intersects with business and technical matters. * Strong judgment, adaptability, initiative, communication skills, political acumen, and attention to detail. * Provide functional expertise on privacy matters and related regulation to product and regional teams. * Advise on issues related to privacy, user control, and transparency during product design, development, and launch. * Monitor privacy developments (primarily but not exclusively in Europe) and support engagement strategies with external stakeholders. * Support outreach and directly engage with policymakers, industry players and key opinion formers in thoughtful dialogue about Google's efforts to earn users' trust and be responsible stewards of users' information. * Develop content and tools to help scale the company's capacity on privacy issues.
