DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhance the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Senior Account Clerk to join its Management and Finance team.
The applicant will process cash receipts and create deposits for armored pickup services from Headquarters. Maintain the Internal Cash Receipt log with information pertaining to all cash receipts. Communicate with internal/external customers concerning discrepancies, receipt of all departmental checks, money orders and automatic clearing house (ACH)/wires received from City locations via telephone or TEAMS.
Additional core duties include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing, processing and compiling various accounting transactions, i.e. payment vouchers, journal entries, etc.
Assists with general accounting or other clerical responsibilities as assigned.
Verifies information and matching deposits of cash receipts.
Summarizes and prepares internal financial reports.
Assists the Accountant Manager and other external/internal employees with revenue functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED. Knowledge of personal computers is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of clerical accounting experience is required.

Preference shall be given to a critical thinker, strong in analytical work and MS Excel, highly flexible, calm under pressure, organized, team-player and possesses the resourcefulness to identify solutions. The ability to work fast paced, with minimal supervision and produces expected results timely. Be able to communicate orally and written.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. Department may administer skills assessment test.
