The Senior Academic Success and Enrichment Specialist (ASES) in Academic Success Programs (ASP) provides support for first-generation students via the Buckeyes First Scholars Program, a comprehensive, coordinated support program that supports students through university transitions, and throughout the undergraduate collegiate experience. Provides success coaching (individualized and group), designs and facilitates student enrichment workshops to cultivate academic, social, emotional, and career development, and coordinates planning and logistics for Kessler Scholars/Buckeyes First and other first-generation student related activities and programming.

Maintains campus-based knowledge of first-generation populations and serves as a resource for staff on the current state of that student population. The overall goal of the Senior Academic Success and Enrichment Specialist is to operationalize a support framework that provides first-generation students with a comprehensive level of support using a "coordinated care system" approach that helps students enhance and/or develop the necessary skills to successfully navigate their collegiate experience.

Designs, develops, and implements a success coaching model to assist first-gen students in a successful transition to university life in both academic and social capacities. Provides a regular reporting structure to document the individual results of these coaching sessions and facilitates regular reporting that assesses trends and themes that emerge from success coaching.

Regularly monitors university systems to assess how students are progressing academically and provides support and referrals when students experience academic and emotional challenges. Design, develop, and implement academic, social, & service programs consistent with the programing goals of the Kessler Scholars/Buckeyes First program model. Plan a regular semester schedule of programs, workshops, and early arrival program in autumn semester.

Handle logistics of executing these programs. Design budgets for programs with reports outlining the purpose and impact intended for the student participants. Develop feedback mechanisms to assess student satisfaction with programming.

Provide opportunities for students to express their suggestions for future programming opportunities. Assist in planning, execution, and evaluation of the Summer Virtual Program (SVP) which is a programming opportunity offered to all incoming first-generation students designed to assist them in their collegiate transition. Maintain Buckeyes First Outlook account to provide communication with students on programs and other opportunities.

Respond to current student and prospective inquiries as needed. Assists in the execution of peer mentor program, including checking in with mentors and mentees. Developing guidelines for mentor/mentee interactions and recording participation in program by both mentors and mentees.

Assists in the implantation and execution of the Kessler Scholars Student Advisory Board (KSAB). Conduct onboarding of student board members and collaborate with student board on programming plans for the scholars group. Provide opportunities for student board to engage in meaningful ways with the scholars program.

Plan activities for the board that develop leadership skills. Serve as co-advisor to Buckeyes First Student Organization and assist student organization leadership to accomplish organizational goals and activities.

5% Peer Mentor Program Facilitation

5% Student Advisory Board Coordination and Student Leadership Support

Assists in the implantation and execution of the Kessler Scholars Student Advisory Board (KSAB). Provide opportunities for student board to engage in meaningful ways with the scholars program.

5% Complete other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Kessler Scholars/Buckeyes First program, TAG and Undergraduate Education.

Duties will vary based on specific assignments and those may be changed at any time during employment, based on needs. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required. Master's degree preferred.

Additional Information:

Targeted hiring range: $42,700 - $46,000. Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
