Position: Senior Academic Coordinator - Gifted
Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
Salary Schedule / Grade: Refer to Administrator Salary Schedule

SUMMARY
The Senior Coordinator of Gifted provides compliance monitoring for the gifted education programming as provided by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction. The Senior Coordinator provides coordination of services for identified academically gifted students District-wide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the identification, testing and placement of gifted students in appropriate educational services and settings.
Assists in the design of gifted education services. Consults with school personnel about ways to develop and adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies for gifted learners.
Consults with school personnel regarding gifted education issues in District strategic planning processes and the development of school improvement plans.
Assists in the development, writing, appropriate dissemination, evaluation and revision of written education plans for gifted students.
Assists in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of gifted education services, including input from parents of students who are gifted.
Assists in ensuring that documents regarding gifted identification procedures and written criteria for gift-services placement that are required are accurate and accessible to parents and other stakeholders.
Assists in ensuring District compliance with accountability requirements.
Inputs EMIS codes, information, and gifted identification for students.
Communicates with parents, teachers of gifted students, counselors, principals, and others about the characteristics and educational needs of gifted students.
Coordinates services such as mentorship, advanced coursework, special seminars, independent studies, interdisciplinary curricular experiences, internships, career explorations, visual and/or performing arts experiences, distance learning, and supervising and evaluating educational options for gifted students.
Assists in the development of curriculum and staff-development activities and provide teaching demonstrations to model appropriate teaching practices or classroom management strategies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five years of successful gifted teaching experience
Current and valid Teaching and Administrative Licenses
Must have a current Gifted Intervention Specialist Certification Endorsement issued by the Ohio Department of Education
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds (100 pounds on wheels).
Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office and classroom setting.
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Frequent travel to meetings/professional development and work assignments.
