About the team and the role:

In this role, you will be part of the Seller Performance team. This team's mission is anchored in creating buyer trust and minimizing bad buyer experiences by ensuring sellers provide an industry-standard experience to eBay's buyers.

As a Seller Performance Policy Manager, you will manage much of the day-to-day function of the Seller Performance team. You will balance performing operational processes with identifying ways to improve and scale them.

You'll take a data-driven approach to identifying policy gaps, opportunities, and vectors of potential abuse. You'll partner closely with collaborators and represent the interests of the Seller Performance team for new initiatives, programs, and products.

What you will accomplish:

  • Run the Business: Manage the day-to-day functions of the Seller Performance team, including resolving high-priority issues & customer concerns, maintaining access controls, drafting & reviewing seller protections, and monitoring potential vectors of policy abuse or circumvention.

  • Manage Policy Improvement: Assist with management of the Seller Performance & Feedback (reviews) policies, identifying, sizing, and monitoring areas of improvement.

  • Communicate Policies: Enhance the way eBay communicates our Seller Performance & Feedback policies to sellers, including improving external policy information and seller communication.

  • Improve Operations: Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure policy compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Assess Program Impact: Collaborate on new programs & product initiatives to assess impact to Seller Performance programs or apply appropriate seller protections.

  • Seller Engagement: Regularly connect with sellers to gather feedback and insights to incorporate into policies and processes.

What you will bring:

  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in e-commerce, trust & safety, or related field, demonstrating a deep understanding of industry challenges and standard processes.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills, ensuring accurate policy application, a full understanding of end-to-end business impacts, and efficient management of run-the-business workflows.

  • Capacity to Navigate Complex Environment: Ability to understand how processes or changes affect seller performance and influence other teams.

  • Process Improvement: A continuous improvement approach with a track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing innovative process enhancements to drive operational excellence.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and size complex situations, identify critical issues, and develop effective solutions in a dynamic business environment

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey policy changes and decisions, as well as collaborate with various partners.
