This position exercises a high level of leadership in managing the programs for self-insurance, partial, and divided coverage programs within the Workers Compensation (WC) Division. The position develops program policy and procedure, reviews the financial analysis and recommendations of staff, provides training and direction to staff performing financial analysis and/or reading financial statements for data entry and performs the most complex and difficult risk analyses.

This position requires the ability to travel occasionally to employer worksites throughout Wisconsin.

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience performing tasks related to the following:

  • Researching, analyzing and interpreting complex written materials (e.g., federal or state legislation, regulations or administrative code, advisory or policy documents).

  • Analyzing financial data and reports (e.g. balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, annual reports, market data, or similar).

  • Communicating professionally with a variety of audiences about technical topics.

Well-qualified applicants will also have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public policy, finance, business, law or similar.

  • Experience assessing impact of proposed law changes.

  • Experience in the insurance industry, particularly any experience with self insurance or wrap up insurance.

  • Experience managing a program (e.g. setting program goals, developing policies and procedures, evaluating program effectiveness, or similar).

This role will support initiatives by identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting risk related information and will require strong communication and partnership with business and functional leaders to ensure risks are properly addressed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Protect the company's assets by ensuring a comprehensive insurance and risk management program * Evaluate whether company should self-insure * Manage all lines of commercial insurance coverage * Manage day-to-day insurance claims, loss data process, investigate as needed, and report out status of claims * Provide recommendations on claim activity and whether to adjust or settle * Leverage data analytics on insurance data to recognize trends * Interact cross functionally with HR, Legal, Finance, Facilities, IT and other departments as needed * Collaborate with insurance brokers on renewals and mid policy changes * Review contracts and leases for 3rd party insurance considerations * Write reports and present all aspects of insurance to management * Prepare coverage summary and propose detailed renewal plan for the company's board of directors * Read, understand, and analytically identify property insurance issues in loan documents, entity documents, and leasing documents * Coordinate site visits for carriers, as needed * Understand and be proficient in reading insurance policies, certificates, insurable values, and general risk management practices * Identify deficiencies and recommend appropriate changes to coverages, endorsements, etc., and to the company's risk policies * Report to management team periodic updates as to strategy, success of the insurance program and lead any changes to brokers * Evaluate insurance coverages for acquisitions and work to consolidate coverage into Exacts policies * Educate Exact employees regarding insurance risks and be the insurance expert for the company Qualifications Education, Qualifications, & Key Competencies * Bachelor's degree in business or related field * Three (3) years of direct corporate risk management experiences or a minimum or 5 years' experience in an insurance brokerage operation * Thorough understanding of all aspects of insurance process related to multiple insurance types * Analytical and data analysis skills * Self-motivator and ability to take full ownership of projects with limited guidance * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software Suite * Agility in thinking, able to anticipate change, responds quickly, has breadth of perspective and is open and eager to grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment * Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization in a professional and respectful approach * Well-rounded understanding of business processes * Knowledge of risks associated with insurance programs * Active Property & Casualty Insurance License preferred * Demonstrated experience of being able to take on more responsibility while delivering successful results * Proven experience leading projects * Strong verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail Physical Requirements * Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day * Ability to sit for an extended period of time * Ability to stand for extended periods of time and up to 6 hours at a time * Ability to travel (by land and air) * Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email * Constant walking or motion to coordinate work and interact with co-workers * Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis #LI-RM1 Exact Sciences is an equal employment opportunity employer.
