Tasks include collecting and recording of specimens and body fluids. * Under the direct supervision of a nurse, performs direct patient care affecting the well being, comfort and safety of patients. * Performs technical procedures and reports findings to the nursing staff. Tasks include: performing venipuncture for blood samples, performing EKG's, placing electrodes and obtaining telemetry readings. * Collects patient data as defined by the Skill Inventory List and documents these data on the appropriate flow sheets. * Collects specimens, performs basic tests or sends specimens to appropriate laboratory for analysis per Hospital policies. * Attends to patients' environmental needs by straightening belongings, offering comfort measures at the direction of the nurse. * Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by nurse. * Orients patient/family to unit and patient room, and provides copies of Patients' Bill of Rights, as directed by nurse. * Performs other duties as assigned by nurse to support unit functioning and patient care delivery.REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma and two years of experience in health care delivery in positions such as: Nursing Assistant; Home Health Aide; EMT; Medic/Corps Person; or two clinical semesters completed as a Nursing Student; or equivalent combination of education and experience.The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the University's mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create - and Make the World Ever Better.
