The Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC) is searching for two Seismo-Acoustic Engineers to take an active role within the WATC engineering team in maintaining & improving seismic and infrasound stations around the globe. Our ideal candidates will bring a unique background of technical skills, problem solving, organization, and teamwork to add to the WATC engineering and research team.The WATC was created to recognize the accomplishments and growing stature of nuclear treaty monitoring support programs at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The WATC is an externally funded organization and critical component of the Geophysical Detection of Nuclear Proliferation University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), which was established for research, development, testing, evaluation, and use of scientific and technological capabilities to better sense, locate, characterize, and assess the threat potential of nuclear activities worldwide. WATC is an externally funded group that conducts seismic and acoustic research and operations across the globe in support of nuclear treaty monitoring programs. This position will help manage fiscal and administrative duties and help ensure the continued success and project execution at WATC. They will work closely with the Geophysical Institute (GI) Business Office and other relevant offices at UAF. Candidates with an Associate Degree and 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field will also be considered.
