The security -EMS officer's main role and duty will be within a security type role, with other duties as assigned to assist with patient care and room readiness within the hospital grounds at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Non-patient care duties:

  • Landing zone preparation for the arrival of the medical helicopter.

  • Escort of patients, staff, visitors, and vendors.

  • Securing and monitoring the building doors.

  • Notifying "On-Call" engineers when needed for emergency repairs/alarms/ice & snow.

  • Covering the switchboard for breaks and monitoring alarms.

  • Responsible for patient's belonging safe

  • Carry a two-way radio at all times.

  • Respond to security announcements throughout the organization

  • Rounding throughout the departments throughout the shift.

Patient care duties:

Patient care duties will be performed under the direction of the physician and or registered nurse. The security- EMS

officer can provide a variety of patient care, environmental, and equipment related services including but not limited

to:

  • Assisting with patient care

  • Observing and documenting on patient care

  • Patient room stocking and re-stocking

  • Maintaining equipment

  • Working collaboratively as a part of a patient focused team to provide excellent care and services

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.IV initiation and removal
2.Provide care to all ages across the spectrum
3.Be utilized as a sitter
4.Cardiac monitoring and EKG's
5.Laboratory draws
6.Application of slings, splints, and other orthopedic devices
7.Assist with treatment and management of patients
8.Performs other duties such as assigned: i.e. patient transport; wound cleansing, etc.

BLS (CPR) Certified

SAFE Training within 3 months of hire Required

Licenses: Licensed by the State of Wisconsin as an EMT or above

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must demonstrate participative behavior to solving problems and decision making

Strong organization skills

Initiates work assignments independently without specific direction

Excellent communication and customer service skills
