Perspecta is looking for a Security Technician.

A Systems Security Technician has experience with IT system security requirements and processes. Can identify problems; can implement security updates and upgrades based on written and oral tasking.

A Security technician will:

  • Support the client by issuing IDs, and coaching client on password schema and usage

  • Documents access by logging, sorting, counting, and filing requests, deletions and changes

  • Maintains secure files by processing and filing computer security forms and documents

  • Provides reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

  • Conduct Incident Management: Resolve routine in-scope security incidents independently. Work with team members to resolve more complex incidents

  • Adhere to all Change Management requirements

  • Apply patch and security changes as required per policy

  • Ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) entries are updated and complete

  • Provide continual improvement recommendations for Security area (process improvement, technical standard updates, etc)

  • Participate in customer and internal projects, including transformation

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

Associate's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering of technical discipline or 2 year technical school certification is required plus 3 years related work experience.
4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Typical skills include:

  • Understanding of technology in the are of IT Security

  • General understanding of related technologies

  • Good Customer Service skills

  • General knowledge of Project Management methodologies
