As a Security Technician in the Security Department provides security for patients, employees and visitors; protects hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school (G.E.D.).

  • Less than one year experience in security.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives and safety standards. Attends meetings as required.

  • Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.

  • Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.

  • Assist medical staff in the restraint of violent, agitated and or hostile persons. May be required to assist with lifting of patients, visitors and or staff. May be required to assist in lifting of deceased persons

  • Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors as it pertains to safety. Escorts personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings.

  • Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities. Secures, records, and issues patient valuables.

  • This position will require heavy lifting of greater or equal to 50 pounds for more than 33% of their shifts in situations where self-defense is deemed necessary. Capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.

  • Capable of defending self and other within violent incidents.
