What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform Security Engineering services in our MSP and MSSP business.

  • Design IT infrastructure solutions, create documentation, and install/configure hardware and software

  • Monitor system performance and tune it, respond to incidents from customers and monitoring, implement changes

  • Serve in a weekly On-Call rotation

  • Configure systems to comply with security standards, access control

  • Train fellow systems engineers

  • Report project and task status
    What You Need for this Position

  • 5+ years experience as a Security Systems Engineer

  • Strong experience in a Linux environment

  • Networking, storage, and Server hardware experience

  • Deployment of IT Security related software (commercial firewalls, UTMs, SIEM, NIDS, IPS, HIDS, service integrity monitoring tools, and vulnerability scanning tools)

  • Open source Security tools (Suricata, SNORT, BroIDS, OSSEC, OSSIM, ModSecurity, OpenVAS)

  • Shell Scripting (PERL, Python, Java, shell scripts, etc.)

  • VMware administration

VIEW JOBS 11/10/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-08T00:00 Description: POSITION TITLE: Information Security Systems Engineer REQ ID: ES20182709-27702 POSITION LOCATION: Herndon VA POSITION DESCRIPTION Harris Corporation is seeking a Senior Information Security Systems Engineer, and Security Administrator for the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) program and other related Air Traffic Control programs. The position involves the security administration for the Surveillance and Broadcast Services System assets. The work includes developing and managing file integrity monitoring systems, performing security vulnerability assessments, supporting remediation activities, review and development of security test plan and procedures, and the support of FAA IRAT and GAO audits. Personnel responsibilities include the mentoring and technical direction of junior security administrators RESPONSIBILITIES The candidate will be responsible for performing tasks such as: * Support all aspects of cyber security for both on-site and remote systems * Perform daily security systems administration for IDS, Firewall, SIEM, and other COTS products * Perform vulnerability assessments and security audits to meet NIST standards * Research security standards, security systems and authentication protocols * Identify security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives (hardware, software, cross-domain solutions, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus systems and software deployment tools). * Recommend and implement measures to maintain compliance with Federal cyber security policies * Develop and review System Security Plans (SSP) and other required system plans and security procedures * Coordinate security-relevant systems administration activities in Windows, Linux, VMware, Solaris, and Cisco IOS * Verify that asset implementations comply with allocated security requirements * Mentor and provide technical direction to junior security administrators * Work will be performed during normal business hours with scheduled on-call support after normal business hours * Work is generally conducted in an office environment. Work may require lifting 50 lbs., standing, walking, and prolonged sitting. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in certain situations. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task specific work environment training will be provided as required. This position may require travel for periods of time to various government sites and the world. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, and minimum 4 years related experience * 2-4 years' experience in system administration or security administration. * Experience with system architectures, operating systems, network components, software assurance and databases * Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. * Working knowledge of VMware, Linux, Solaris, Windows, Active Directory, and Cisco platforms. * Knowledge of security products such as Cisco Firepower, AlienVault USM/OSSIM, OSSEC, Splunk Enterprise Security, and McAfee e-Policy Orchestrator. PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS * DoDI 8570 IAT or IAM Level 2 compliant professional certification (i.e. CISSP, CISM, Security + CE, or SSCP). * Experience with security assessment and authorization activities required for Federal information systems. * Must have exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as strong ability to lead and mentor teammates * Previous experience with FAA systems and programs is a plus. * The successful candidate will possess strong initiative with an ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, and strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
